Pirates influence

I still think it would have been better to see The Western River Expedition instead of taking the Alternative...If anyone ever seen the Virtual ride through they showed at the D23 expo here's what it looked like...
'

But, then if it was there...And if the Lone Ranger was good..I would have a BAD Feeling they would add both characters in one scene....*Shudders*

they need to make Tom Sawyer Island into Pirate or Treasure Island and work some magic there... how about even replacing the ferry boat with a pirate ship people can ride and shoot air/water cannons
Tom Sawyer Island is in between Frontierland and Liberty Square. If Pirates were to join the island then that would pull from of Adventureland and not allow the theming to flow very well.

While I think the Pirates franchise is great, there is really no need to expand it more in the parks. Jungle Cruise and POTC are such classics that they need to be left alone. The POTC building is technically in Frontierland so they could add something small to the back of Adventureland, but I think it is best to leave everything alone.

I love the Jungle Cruise, admittedly though a great trip on th JC usually has everything to do with your Captain and not the ride itself (although I do enjoy the ride too).

But on the other hand, I guess we can't hold on to everything as it is forever, otherwise WDW would fall behind the pack in a hurry (I know some people are pretty vocal about feeling that has already happened).

I think a good compromise would be to keep the JC (a classic in my opinion) with the comedic Captains, but completely refurb the scenery/animatronics. If the JC movie does happen, it could lead to a new storyline for the ride as well.

I like the pirates section, especially since my son is very "into" pirates right now (Disney played that well with the Jake and the Neverland Pirates show on Disney Junior). They've got the ride, the league and the little show they do and my son just eats it up. And now they've got the new interactive adventure thing and the new experience at HS. I'm neither here nor there with the JC, but I'm not sure what else they would do to expand the pirates theme? There's only so far you can go with it.

I'm thinking the people complaining about JC don't really get it. It's supposed to be cheesy. Don't update the animatronics, don't update the script, leave the classic as a classic. There's plenty of other locations to expand without ripping out existing.

I like Jungle Cruise, cheesy jokes and all! (And yes I've heard them a million times but it is still fun). Honestly I think you are in the minority in considering JC a waste of space. I don't need more Pirates. And certainly not for JC's space. That being said... JC could use some updates, especially with the AAs.

I wouldn't mind them replacing Swiss Family Robinson with something else though... Or doing something different with Tom Sawyer's Island. Those are two of the things I consider a waste of space. Along with Captain EO, but that's another story ;)

i also heard about a year ago that a jungle cruise movie with hanks and allen was possibly in the works. so i doubt the ride gets touched. but what i could see is aladdin making way for port royale someday. if anything is a waste of space its the aladdin ride, imho.

so when all the jungle cruise lovers die off we will be all set! im sure you all do love it but thats because its always been there....i say let it burn and put something greater in there. my reference to pirates was because you know....except for possibly cars as an entire franchise pirates was the most relevant in the past ten years....with the whole over 4 billion at the box office sort of thing?

call me what you will i will watch an 80s tv diner comedy if i want JC comedy. get over yourselves...that comedy and showmanship can be found many places...(in context) it no longer screams Disney....go see real animals and stop bashing that park before you line up with swords to defend this Pile.

HM and Liberty Square are consistent with the north east US in the early 1800's. Tom Sawyer Island is consistent with the Mississippi area of the same time frame and lastly FrontierLand is consistent of the what you would see in the western US in the 1830's and later. Adding Pirates from the 1690's is a pretty major thematic time jump. You might as well put TomorrowLand themed attraction between Splash and BTMRR.
Update the pirates, why do they have to be from the 1690's. Afterall, pirates were instrumental in the War of 1812 in New Orleans.

Sure you could do that, but it would not be consistent with the romanticized 17th and 18th century pirates that Disney has been using since PotC opened in DL in the late 60's.

Even when I was a kid I couldn't care less about Tom Sawyer Island or Swiss Family Robinson. I liked the movies and books but I thought the attractions were boring. I'd be down with removing them entirely

This was the facebook status of a Jungle Cruise Skipper today. The low-tech of the Jungle Cruise might not scream Disney, but the impact on this kid and his family has "Disney" written all over it.

"A kid gets on my boat and this kid is LOUD, "OMG this is the coolest thing I have ever seen! This is awesome! I'm in a REAL BOAT, PEOPLE!" I mention that we're clear to go out into the Jungle and he says, "LET'S SAIL ON!" I introduced myself as the Skipper and told the boat that Skipper Joshua is going to be driving us today. "WHATWHATWHAT. YES!!!" We had a lot of fun and made hilarious (and very LOUD) comments at every scene. I would get excited and yell every time that he did - everyone had a blast.
When the ride was over, his mother stood back for a moment and told me that Joshua is Autistic and she thanked me for "embracing" something that some people find, in her words, annoying. She thanked me for making magic and giving Joshua something that he'd never forget, "or quit talking about"! :p awesome!

I was about to drive off and I turn around just in time to see Joshua blowing me a kiss. I'll always cherish that boat!"
