Pirates influence

Just thinking out loud with a waste of space (caugh) "jungle cruise" right next to pirates can somebody tell me if there has ever been a discussion at the least on expanding the pirates "area" with anything? It's a huge epic franchise.

Not trying to speculate just wondering if a vet member can say if they ever thought about it.

Both attractions are popular classics. Highly doubt they would canibalize the cruise for pirates. Plus the majority of the pirates attraction is outside the berm. JC is inside from what I recall.

I just don't think WDW will ever get rid of Jungle Cruise. It might be cheesy, but a lot of guests do enjoy it. It kinda became a classic when no one was looking.
Disney's latest Pirates attraction effort (Jack Sparrow thing at DHS) was kind of lame. I'm not sure if we'll see anything major in term of Pirates outside of the main attraction.

they need to make Tom Sawyer Island into Pirate or Treasure Island and work some magic there... how about even replacing the ferry boat with a pirate ship people can ride and shoot air/water cannons

Could you imagine if the water cannons could spray people on the walkways? People with vendettas against certain family members or maybe even tour groups could be very dangerous!

Similar to the idea above. They should incorporate a walkway near pirates that overlooks Jungle Cruise. Where there is a line of Canons and a mock ship. People can put in a quarter and push a button (Similar to UNI Popeye area) and you have a chance to fire a water canon which causes a water geyser to launch onto guests of the Jungle Cruise. It would enhance both the pirate area and jungle cruise while adding an interactive element to them both. :)

Can't see it happening. The MK already has "lands", I not a huge fan of "mini lands" stuck within those lands. Despite their rolling out of the new Pirates interactive thingy, the pirates ship has sailed. (Pun intended) Assuming Pirates 5 does come out when scheduled, there may be a bit of a bump in popularity, but nothing I would feel warrants more space devoted to them.

agree and disagree. Yes, the POTC movies have basically reached the end of their useful lives; but the traditional POTC theming and events can be a huge boy-centered thing to complement the princess girl-centric stuff.

I like your thinking on this... some people don't like to get wet though so it would be better if it were a blast of mist more than a super soaker ya know

the island is also visble from Haunted Mansion and Liberty Square so the island doesn't have to fall into frontierland
HM and Liberty Square are consistent with the north east US in the early 1800's. Tom Sawyer Island is consistent with the Mississippi area of the same time frame and lastly FrontierLand is consistent of the what you would see in the western US in the 1830's and later. Adding Pirates from the 1690's is a pretty major thematic time jump. You might as well put TomorrowLand themed attraction between Splash and BTMRR.

so it'd be like putting tomorrowland speedway (with 19th century gas powered go carts) in tomorrowland?
one could go as far as saying the self-ordering kiosks at pecos bill's isn't exactly 1830's either. haha I know that's a stretch in a half, but I don't think changing tom sawyer ZZZzzz island to something more might enjoy would be so bad.

I wouldn't even mind them building an attraction on the island...not just re-theming

Yes. It is as equally as stupid as having gas powered go carts in TomorrowLand. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Um....Jungle Cruise isn't a waste of space. I get that it's old and we probably all have the jokes memorized. But it's an awesome classic attraction. I enjoy it every time and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

And there's the Jungle Cruise movie supposedly still in the works, starring Tim Allen and Tom Hanks.
