Pirates comparison

Can anyone here write a scene by scene comparison of DL and WDW's versions of Pirates of the Caribbean? I have ridden both (once at DL, and a million times at WDW). I just remember the two having different beginnings and endings (DL's version being longer). Can anyone post what exactly is different between the two?

If I were lucky enough to have visted both at an age I could remember, I'd gladly do it for you. But all my memories of DLR pirates were from an age of about 7. :animwink:

Okay, I rode DL version for the 1st time last year a whole slew so it's still fresh in my mind. I can't do an exact scene for scene breakdown, but the major differences and such are:

DL starts where you are in the Blue Bayou swamps of Lousiana and the resturant is across the water (that's where the idea in Mexico Epcot came from- but this is much bigger). You enter the canverns and have the 1st drop. Then it has bunch of skeleton pirates among slew of treasure and gold, a few drinking and you see the wine going thru their body., about 2 or 3 scenes of that

Once both rides do the dark drop into the pirate ship battle, they are essentially the same until the end, besides these minor details.

DL- you have a huge thick fog you drop down into and the pirate battle slowly materializes, the sound of the cannons, sound like real cannons & there is a shadow on top of the top formation directly in front of you overhead of 2 pirates fighting, all very nice touches.

Then where WDW ends with the dog & men in the jail, DL continues with drunk pirates on each side of you sitting and laying on barrels shooting at you, a barrel has water shooting out of a hole, there are a few red burnt wood pieces and you enter the lift to bring you back to ground level, which has various things on it on your voyage upward, you come up, see all the people in the queue and make a right turn before exiting the ride.

Hope that helps :-)

Okay, here's my best shot at it, from what I can remember of WDW's... Hopefully the formatting will stick... (EDIT: It didn't, so I'm doing it this way)

WDW

Caves
Little drop
Caves
Ship/fort battle
Carlos in the well
Auction
Pirates chasing women
Burning city
Jail
Treasure room
Unload

DL

Ride through the Bayou
Bigger drop into the caves
Another smaller drop
Skeleton at the wheel
Armory/Captain's Quarters
Treasure room
Caves/"warnings"
Ship/fort battle
Carlos in the well
Auction
Pirates chasing women
Burning City
Jail
Pirate gun fight
Uphill
Back into Bayou
Unload

I think that's it... feel free to correct me!

Alas, I've found the fog to be lacking a lot lately. I always thought that was a cool effect, and it really helped further the story by showing you that you really are going back in time and such. But more often than not I've found the fog to be gone entirely over my last several visits.

On the 2nd disc of PoC you can find the original DL version.

But that's from when the ride first opened. There has been many changes since then. Such as the installment of the latest AA technology, new scene at end, and some changes to the pirates.

In DL, the pirates don't chase women anymore. They now chase food.

Yes, but who's carrying the food? :D

Last time I was on the ride, when I passed the fat guy eating in that scene, I said his OLD spiel in there, the way it SHOULD be. Got a few interesting looks from guests.

I saw that this past weekend. Really good movie. Johnny Depp was great. Heard he patterned his character off of Keith Richards. As far as the ride shown on the bonus disc, it looks like it was filmed during the grand opening of the ride. Have there been many updates/changes since then and is it comparable to MK version?

One i dont understand is the pirate sitting next to the barrels and the girl poking her head out of one as she hides from him. In the original speil he is sort of asking if you have seen her, then in the new speil he is talking about the treasure and his map. What could he say that was so un PC that that was changed?? This is the one in magic kingdom, I dont remember if it was the same in DL.

The pirate used to be talking about how he wanted to "hoist his colors" on the wench. :D

Doesn't WDW PoC have the drunken pirates with the leaking barrel as well?? It's when you are going back to the "Dock" and you see two people tied up on chairs sitting in a room full of gold with pirates laughing and lounging outside of the area...I may be wrong but this is one of my all time favorite rides...I just wish that they made it longer and had the same as DL but then that one is in Port Orleans or w/e the name is. So the Blue Bayou wouldn't fit as well but it would still go.
