Pirate Hat Thief on Pirates of the Caribbean

I had a quick question concerning the Pirate Hat Thief figure that appears in the "burning city" portion of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Well, during my last few to trips to Walt Disney World, I have noticed that this pirate is always missing the many hats that he seems to have stolen. He is supposed to have about five or six hats that are stacked on top of his head, but during my recent trips on Pirates of the Caribbean, he only has one. Are the hats missing all the time or are they only absent during a few times of the year?

They come and go. I don't know why. Without the hat gag, it's quite a lame character. Like, what is he doing?

It's really random. He will have a big pile of hats and then two days later, just one. Then he'll have one for 4 months. And then a tall stack for 2 months. There seems to be some kind of issue maintaining the pile of hats properly.

This year, when the tall stack of hats came back, they were very different too; lots of ladies hats and such. But, they come and go often. It's kinda luck of the draw how many hats he has on any given day. :lol:

Heres a thought. With all the hats that people lose on attractions and around the park I think it would be cool to stack the hats that they find... You could be on the ride and see the hat you lost the year before and tell your kids that the pirate looted it. it would make a good pic.:shrug:

They've been missing for a while. It's kind of odd that they would disappear since it isn't like they are something that really need maintaining, but it is also one of those things that you wouldn't notice unless you knew they are supposed to be there. Maybe inventory was running low at the shop upstairs...

Very strange. I don't get why they would take them off. Maybe pirates really is haunted and the ghost is messing with people. Lol.

I have also noticed every time I ride it on different days a different amount of hats would appear.

Every time I've ridden it in the past few months, all of his hats have been completely gone except for one. He almost never has his stack of hats anymore. Dunno why.

It's a hard balancing act as you can see . Hope they get this one figured out soon as the one hat just doesn't make it that fun.
