Help! We need a hotel for 1 night in June and my wife seems to remember a hotel in LBV on rt.535 just north of Hotel plaza blvd on the"Downtown Disney" side of the road that was yellow with pineapples on top of 2 columns.I thought it may have been a Doubletree Hotel but cannot find it in their directory. Can anyone tell me the name of the hotel? thanks in advance

I thought it became a no-name resort at some point, which typically means the company felt he quality level dropped enough that they wanted no part of it.

Found it!

It -was- the Doubletree Club. I hadn't heard good things about it and last time i saw it the exteriro didn't look like it was being well maintained..

Let's check trip advisor..

Well, reviews seem to have gone up and it was supposedly remodeled in the last 2-3 years.. Could have improved wth new ownership or something I suppose. I just know it lost being a Doubletree Club for some reason and from the older reviews and look at the exterior it was warranted at the time. May have turned around.

You're thinking of the double tree that is right across the street from universal. I stayed there in Feb when I was in town for Westlemania.

No, it used to be a Doubletree. I stayed there a number of years ago. *shudder* Man, every single thing in the online ad for it was misleading. "Free breakfast" was - and I kid you not - coupons to the local Outlet Mall's Food Court. "Right outside Downtown Disney" was right outside the road leading to Downtown Disney. We had to have them come up because our toilet wouldn't stop running, there were employees screaming in the hallway to each other at 11pm and the nice, digital A/C on the wall didn't work and instead you had to use the 1970's window unit.

Maybe they've cleaned up since then but...*cringe* it was really bad about five years ago, I can tell you that much.

Best advice....call Disney and ask for one of their Good Neighbor Hotels. These hotels have to meet Disney expectations in order to stay part of the program. I know Comfort Inn, Staybridge & Quality Suites are all part of the program and are all right in the same area you are looking for. I would also check the Downtown Disney Resort hotel right on property.

Just in case the other hotel doesn't work out-

We recently stayed at a Residence Inn off Rt. 535 behind Crossroads. It was amazing! We were almost spoiled by the large spacious rooms.

There are also three hotels in what they call the Marriott Village which is sort of on 535, but just on the opposite side of route 4. I say sort of because the entrance to the three hotels is on the roadway going to the premium outlets even though two of the hotels border on 535. There is a courtyard, springhill suites and I forget the other one.

I have stayed at the sheraton safari, which is only a hundred yards away. Its a decent Hotel with a nice pool area. Its located on the corner of Palm Parkway.
I can recommend the area, loads of restaurants to choose from.

Stayed there a couple of years ago when it was the Doubletree and it was not the best. Can't remember much but my parents told me it was very noisy and they would never stay there again. But then again they are pretty picky about hotels.

My mother stayed there about a year or so ago when she was visiting me and she was pretty pleased with it. Her main concerns with a hotel are quiteness and cleanliness and she can be rather picky about both. She also got quite the deal on the room so she might not have been as favorable if she'd paid full price.

She's also a big fan of the Sheraton Safari hotel that someone else mentioned. I stayed with her there a few nights and it's very nice considering it's reasonable price.
