I would love to take part in this but I do not have any pins and this will be my first visit to WDW...should I just buy a couple of pins and then go from there? Anyone got any advice for me on this?

Buy a pin starter set. They come with the lanyard and doubles of pins. Don't just buy a lanyard and a bunch of pins that you like, as it might make trading a bit difficult to start, if you have ones you like right off the start and nothing to trade with.

Do you EBAY? If so, go and buy a "lot" from the BUY NOW listings and get 25 or 30 pins for around $2 to $3 per pin and then go down and trade them. But be careful as there are a lot of knock off/cheap pins. Then you can get yourself a nice soft lanyard by itself or still get a starter set. I think the starter sets are around $25 to $30 with 4 to 6 pins and a regular lanyard around $8. My family loves to trade so you really need a dozen or so to make it more fun. If you only have 2 or 3 to trade it goes by too quick.

If you want to PM me I can give you some more info on some sellers that are dependable.

I concur with the previous two posters - either get a starter set (that you don't like ;) ), or buy a "lot" on eBay from a reputable seller. If you think you're really going to get into it, I'd recommend buying anywhere from 25-100 pins to trade, because you're going to be trading a lot. :) For our last trip, I forgot to go the eBay route, and we didn't get to do much trading as we only had 8-10 pins to trade, and that got eaten up in a hurry with three boys (a 6 year old, a 4 year old, and a 35 year old ;) ) that wanted to trade.

Enjoy!
