Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg Tips

So we're headed to Pigeon Forge in a couple of weeks, and I've done some homework on the area, including reading a few threads here on WDWMagic. I'm just wondering, what would you consider the can't miss attractions in the area? We'll probably do Dollywood, maybe the Ripley's aquarium, and Cade's Cove, but outside of that, what do you recommend? It will be me, DW, DS10, DS5 and DD1, so zip lines and really thrilling rides are out of the question.

Dollywood is a must, as is Ripley's Aquarium and Museum...and the Comedy Barn. Don't miss the Comedy Barn!

If you are renting a cabin in the mountains, you should be aware that most, if not all, use well water, which has a very strong sulfur smell (rotten eggs.) Really put a damper on our stay there as we were unaware of this prior to our arrival.

Have a great trip! It's a great place to visit...very scenic, and everyone was very friendly! Have fun!

Thanks for the tip about the water. We'll be sure to bring a case of bottled water along. I'll have to look into the Comedy Barn as well!

I enjoy Dixie Stampede there. It is a dinner show with a North v. South flare with horse riding stunts and whatnot. Try and find a time to eat breakfast at Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg. It is one of my favorite places to eat there. There is one located in Nashville also, and it is a local favorite in both places. Other than that you can't go wrong with Dollywood and Ripley's Aquarium. Skip the Ripley's Museum and the Guinness World Records Museum.

Pancake Pantry FTW! Used to frequent the Nashville location. Great stuff.

Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg is such a great place. Had a lot of fun times around there when I went to school at MTSU. Dollywood is definitely a must-do for a day, and I'd also recommend the Ripley's aquarium and even their Old MacDonald's Farm Mini-Golf course in Sevierville (you can usually get some sort of Ripley's package ticket with the aquarium, mini-golf, 3-D moving theater, museum, etc. around there). Sevierville is also home to a really great outlet mall, if you're into that sorta thing. And Gatlinburg is great to walk around and shop and all that good stuff. They've also got many great restaurants. I'm fond of the seafood at Crawdaddy's myself!

Whatever you wind up doing, you're definitely in for a good time. :D

With the baby, I don't know that we'll be doing any hiking, but I was thinking about a vehicle tour of Cade's Cove. Is that location the best for vehicle touring, or are there other better options?

Thanks again for the recommendations, I guess we'll be eating breakfast at Pancake Pantry one morning!

Dollywood and Splash Country w/ Dixie Stampede. There's also a new Titanic attraction if interested.
Try Huck Finn's for catfish and fried chicken!
Other than that, stay away from the other tourist traps, and spend some time in the good old Smoky Mountains! There are so many beautiful stops @ the National Park! It's free too!:)
Gatlinburg is OK. I would do the Skylift and see the view- very cool! Have fun and y'all come back now ya hear!:D

We love Dollywood, Ripleys Aquarium, putt putt golf, NASCAR speedway go carts- which is a great deal too by the way, and Cades Cove. Some of our favorite places to eat are Old Mill, Apple Barn, Blaine's, Calhouns, and Best Italian (in old location across from Ober Gatlinburg) I'm sure I can think of more later but my Brain is dead for the night.
