This is something that I never even saw with my naked eye. I saw it when zooming with my video camera, so I got a snapshot of it with my digital.

I think it's cool to begin with simply because most don't know it's there even when they stare at it all day.

Also, I think this would be a great webcam opportunity for Disney, though we still think they should bring webcams back. This would be a perfect one!

Very curious....is that a security camera or a camera to monitor the onstage performances in front of the castle?

If it IS a security camera, is there any doubt now in anyone's mind that Cinderella Castle is a missile silo?:hammer:

not a security camera, per se.. if needed it could be used, but like joeyjoe said, it's to monitor the parade.

Like I've said in the past, I've been to security base, and seen the screens... every single camera I saw monitored by them (and no screen images changed, so I saw every camera) was in or near a merchandise location, securing the most important thing... Disney's Bottom Line

Yep thats what its for, and its fun to play with also, zooming in on people and they have no idea

Your Mickey jpg is one of the neatest ones I have ever seen. Is it in the public domain?

Most of the cameras are hidden. Our Keys to the Kingdom tour guide pointed one of the visible ones out to us. It watches the backstage access area in Frontierland.

It is used by DACS to monitor the parades

Indeed it is a Parade Cam. There are actually 2 or 3 (I can't remember). On a Backstage Magic Tour, we were taken into DACS (really cool!). We saw the computers that run every AA, every ride, every noise, every light in the park. In the back of that room, there is a small darkened room where they run the parades. They monitor each float via the PUCKS embedded in the roads, but they also visually monitor the floats and parade route with a few cameras. They watch for foreign objects, people, and other things that could disrupt the parade. They also watch for a float to veer off course and radio them to get back in line.

During the rest of the day, I'm sure it is also watched by security.

don't trust everything the tour guide tells you ;)

I've taken several backstage tours and not everything they tell you is 100% accurate and current

I'm suprised they don't have many more visible cameras around. I guess that's part of the "magic" of WDW. You know Big Brother is there, but you don't see him.

I'll have to look for that next time I'm down and then wave into it... maybe even flash it. :lookaroun

There are 3 "parade" cameras. One is in the clock tower above pecos bills in frontierland, this one is also used to ovserve the frontierland hoedown when it is running. The second is the one on the castle, and the third is on the train station in town square.

oh yeah.... and I'm not afraid to call them out when they're wrong either...

which explains why many tour guides aren't fond of me
