From May 23 until August 14, Pleasure Island will be operating as an un-gated area, allowing you to walk through the island during the evening.

If you want to go to the clubs, you will still need to purchase an admission ticket and get a wristband. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a person 21 years of age or older.

Also, this policy is new and IMHO a nice addition,
Guests with admission media that includes Pleasure Island will be able to redeem their ticket at the entrance of any nightclub.

Basically it's a way to get from one place to another and maybe make some more money buy selling a drink or some merchandise.

For most people PI = CLUBS, so it's not going to be free for them.

This was posted a while back...but I was wondering where they were going to scan the card and get your wrist bands
so I guess that is why 8trax had a card reader the other night. I guess every club will have to get one of the turnstyles

If Im not mistaken I remember walking through PI in 2002. Which was our first time ever going to Downtown Disney.

But Maybe Im mistaken.

So, does that mean you're going to have to pull out your ticket every time you want to go to a different club?

Also, what about the outdoor bars? Will drinking outside still be allowed?

I really don't like the sound of this...

This idea doesn't sound too bad. I don't know if I'd care about going into the clubs but being able to just walk through PI instead of around it sounds all right.

You might have just been there early - it's typcially open access for all prior to a certain time.

Normally it opens as a ticketed island at 7PM and that is when you must take the other walkway to get to the Westside and/or Marketplace...

PI is always open to the public before evening when it becomes the night spot that it really is.

I'm pleased to see this, as there are some nice shops in PI, aside from the bars. The only downside I can see is having little kids near alcohol. As I was only 17 the last time I was there, I don't really know what it's like inside PI at night, but if it's not rip-roarin wild on the streets, and they don't have outdoor alcohol vendors, then it's probably not problematic.

I wouldn't know about PI. When we tried to get in Sat. night @ 10:30 they told us they were maxed (sold out) and we couldn't get in.

No one has answered that yet. Will the outdoor vendors be removed? If it's crowded, the street can be(used to be, at least) almost as much fun as the clubs themselves, and I can guarantee Thursday June 3rd is gonna be packed. And at midnight it's New Years, so the stage end of the island is ALWAYS packed.

The more I think about this, the less I like it.

I see ups & downs to it, guess it'll depend on how the test run goes. If/when I become a local I'll keep an eye on the crowd's reactions.

Just got back from the World and experienced the HORROR that is this new system. You have to constantly have your admission ticket handy at all times and now there are LINES to get into the clubs. I understand the reason this was implimented but the whole point of PI is that it is an all inclusive experience. I typically hop quickly from club to club and this made my PI days a real drag. I told the woman taking tickets in the Adventurer's Club that this new system stinks and she said that they are getting so many complaints that she can't imagine them using this system the whole summer.
