I am currently the only one using these charge points. I got a "hmm" look from the other people in the area when I lifted the cover and plugged in. Goes to show the average guest doesn't pay any attention to their surroundings.

as seen in the pics. Is there a sign there advertising these? something tells me these are not supposed to be known, maybe someone forgot to lock them down?

Yes they absolutely are for guest use. They are not advertised however, but cast in the area will direct you to them if asked.

Just one charging station so far? Once word spreads about it, the line waiting for this might end up being as long as some of those for the e-ticket rides.
There is one on each end of the bench, so I am guessing somewhere around 12 outlets, and 2 ports per outlet.

We are going to need these so we can keep our phones charged for the new FP+ experience. Cant go on vacation without having our phones tethered to ourselves.

This is another thing that bothers me about this NGE/MM+ stuff. Sure you can opt out or choose to not use your phone, but to get the most out of the system one is quasi forced to have their phone with them. And even if you do not choose to use your phone, you're still stuck dealing with many others who will be wandering around with their heads in their phones. Its already bad enough dealing with meandering/clueless guests; MM+ will only make it worse. Am I the only one who finds this unappealing?

Honestly, I would probably do the same thing. There is nothing to indicate they are for guest use, and the fact they are covered doesn't help.

I think this is both shrewd and surprisingly brave and gutsy for TDO. On one hand, keeping phones and pads charged is free (and targeted) advertising for WDW. Every pic and status on Facebook and twitter from someone at Disney goes out to all their friends. On the other hand, keeping phones and pads charged also opens up the possibility for instantaneously sharing stuff like things falling off splash mountain or the AK tree, or a cast prank like that bottle bomb in Anaheim.

What really is the point? You won't be able to get much of a charge. If your phone is dead, you are going to need atleast 5 minutes for it to have enough juice to just boot up, give you the time and push your txt messages to you. What they should have are usb ports at the tables in the restaurants.
