The Epcot Manifesto
Are we sure that since this is the very first day of a soft opening, that this is truly Bad Show, and nothing is going to happen in the ticket booth in the future?

You're disgusted that a store doesn't have animatronics? Wow... Keep grasping at those straws.

I'd hate to see what shopping is like for you.

Really? This is Disney. This isn't just a "store". And if you really want to go there, been to a Disney Store in the last 20 years?

Point made. Thanks for playing.

Yep. Worked in two of them (old and new styles). This space is better done and more elaborately themed than either of them could have ever hoped to be. Oh, and neither of them had animatronics.

And yes, technically, this is "just a store". You're the one who apparently thought it would be an E-ticket.

Please tell me where the precedent apparently exists that stores built by Disney are supposed to contain animatronics. To my knowledge, we've gone 57 years without.... Unless I'm shopping at completely different stores than you or have my eyes closed or something.

Like, seriously. You find nothing wrong with it, so you just made something up to complain about? I just can't seem to find any shred of an indication (past or present) which would have suggested that there would be animatronics in this (or any, really?) retail space.

I'd be more than happy to continue this argument with you in one thread or the other, but not both (or feel free to pm me).

To recap what I said in the other thread, just go down I-4 and see the animatronics in the Seussland tent. If it isn't too much to expect from Uni, why would it be from Disney?

As for the stores, they may not have animatronics, but they have dozens of statues of characters throughout that add a lot of life and interest, setting the Disney Stores apart from other "stores".

And the animatronics isn't even close to touching the surface. The real problem is a lack of attractions in this back corner. Putting a tent with some benches and a couple of Fastpass kiosks in an area large enough for another minor attraction (spinner or whatever) is truly a shame.

Ha! "The Ladies Think I'm Fly" Dumbo shirt.

Oh, dorky Disney merchandising don't ever change.

On different note...
Why isn't there a Troll animatronic on here? I'm disgusted there isn't one in this thread.

Says the guy crying bloody murder because the place doesn't have articulated dummies... and ignores everything else about the place -- Including a on-stage kitchen.

My local Rolling Pin and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has an on-stage kitchen. It's really not that impressive. While I appreciate what they do, calling cast members who are making candy "performers" is really stretching it.

As usual, you've missed the point. AA charters was just a suggestion on something that could have been added to liven the place up. I'm certainly not "screaming bloody murder" about animatronics.

To clarify, this is a circus without a circus. The ticket booths are empty, the stirrups for the high wire performers are dangling in the center of the tent, the animals are caged waiting to go to the circus, but there is no circus! Adding AAs to the tent (and around the land) was simply one suggestion aimed to make the area feel like there was actually a circus going on.

Hopefully, TDO really is looking to hire circus performers for the area. Given that they have downsized Streetmosphere characters, gotten rid of others like Flynn, and aren't adding Pete doesn't make it seem like adding walkaround characters would be something they would do, but I hope they are. It would be just be nice if they added something that made the visitor feel like there was an actual circus going on.

It's a highly detailed shop. It has elements inside to draw people in.. It has details to blend it into the land. It's still a SHOP - not the entertainment for the land. You're just trying to find a new horse to ride to keep your bashing of the land. Grasping at anything you can hang onto.. Call me a sucker for taking your bait.. instead of talking about the Shop (which this thread is about) - it's just your launchpad for SBC bashing..

And the on-stage kitchen is important.. maybe you recall Disneyland just expanded their candy shop because of the popularity...

Do you feel adventureland is lacking because there are no animatronic snakes lurking in the trees? Or no characters of natives ready to jump out? Surprisingly.. it seems devoid of adventurers.. animals.. etc as well!
