Photos from Wild Africa Trek

There was a group walking in harness gear towards the safari on January 7, working with a tour guide to adjust what they were wearing and get comfortable. I snapped a quick picture of them but I was on my way to Asia so I didn't stick around and ride the safari to see if they were testing out the trek or not. They all looked excited, so probably ;)

The "Rope Bridge" is actually a steel cable bridge with netting all around it.

Although there is a lifeline attached to each trekker as they cross, I can't envision what you'd have to do to require it short of climbing over the top cable to leave the bridge entirely.

Disney certainly wouldn't have anything that put a trekker even remotely "at risk".

EDIT: Tried to include this image, but it wouldn't show:

I didn't pay attention to the netting!

So is it also ADA compliant? How did they work around THAT obstacle?

There doesn't appear to be any stated restriction for wheelchairs/ECVs, but I can't imagine how they would be accommodated on a walking trek through paths and across the rope bridge. Perhaps those guests would simply bypass those aspects? The whole thing takes three hours, but it strikes me that the trek itself is fairly short. Hard to tell from the promotional texts I can find.

Tests have been going on almost daily.

And when you're on the safari you're still in Animal Kingdom. And when you're on Splash Mountain you're still in Magic Kingdom.

The point is to give people the ability to take a walking safari who may not be able to afford a trip to Africa.

Seriously? Like a trip to Africa? :ROFLOL:

I can do the same thing at the Cape May Zoo here in NJ. That zoo is run by donations only and has an African savanna with a raised boardwalk over it. The giraffes come right up to you to the point you think they are going to start eating you. Same thing with the rest of the animals.

$129/head? Plus park admission? WOW!!! For my 3 person family, its over $400 to walk through a former cow pasture transformed into Africa....and this "is to give people the ability to take a walking safari who may not be able to afford a trip to Africa.". Look out the window. Check out the economy. Another find wallet digger by WDW as an answer to Harry Potter?

Africa trip's start at about 159.00 per day. Not a whole lot savings there.
