Photos from an unofficial Chinese WoW-theme park

I am not really in the know on the Mythos stuff. Is it poorly done by comparison to the original? Even though China is known for rip-offs do we know for sure that it is in fact not authorized? Not challenging anyone just curious.
No, I wouldn't say that the interior of their Mythos is poorly done. In fact, it's very well done. That's what irks me. It's like, they googled pictures of Mythos and recreated the interior and parts of the exterior to the very last detail.

And I don't think it's authorized that they use the World of Warcraft IP and the knockoff Disney stuff is just ridiculous.

Here, look at this photo review of the park and you'll see where they copied Disney and Universal: http://www.thethemeparkguy.com/park/world-joyland/photos

Wow, that's disgusting.

We need time for things to happen.
Wow...just took a gander at this http://www.thethemeparkguy.com/park/world-joyland/photos in detail.
I'm not surprised by the rip-off factor. It seems pretty prevalent in a lot of these Asian theme parks.

What I AM amazed at is the amount of $$$MONEY$$$$ that must have gone into building this monumental rip off.

This quote struck me:
"as a whole, though, is an expensive embarrassment for the amusement park industry in China, since it exposes either an immense lack of local, creative talent, or a lack of developer's trust in existing local talent's abilities."

I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for 'imagineer' types in China with minds full of original ideas to have to see loads of cash being sunk into this ridiculous 1:1 rip off excuse for an amusement park.

How come all the photos of this park have the overcast rainy weather. Couldn't they find someplace in all of China that wasn't so miserable?

It does not surprise me at all. My wife in a previous position of employment dealt with international relations and was always taken by surprise at how much the Japanese and Chinese seek to emulate our culture. This is in no way a knock on them but rather a true observation from having dealt with high level executives in the power and light industry at many summit events and first person meetings. I do not know that I could give one example other than perhaps Hello Kitty of any sort of Asian pop culture on this side of the pond but apparently these ripped off icons have cross culture appeal.

I've never played Wow, please tell me why there is a Kung Fu Panda noodle shop?
The most recent expansion is called Mists of Pandaria, and is basically a kung fu panda rip-off (It makes playable Panda's in the game, with very asian inspired world, and martial arts.) Here's a screenshot

The Japanese have been trying to emulate Western culture for well, decades. Both before WWII and after, they consider themselves a part of the West. China does it but for different reasons (and this is neither the time nor place to get into it).

Iam not seeing much World of Warcraft as much as Iam seeing a Universal IoA rip off. Overall, the place looks pretty junky.

Embarrassing even.

Yep, the difference, at least IMO is that Japan tries to take things from the west and shapes it to their own cultural norms, while also trying to improve upon it. That's more recent. They used to be more like China is today by making very cheap versions of western things. They also don't have most of the intellectual property problems they used to have.

China, on the other hand seems to not care at all about intellectual property, which is going to make the Shanghai park VERY interesting (Hong Kong is a different kind of situation entirely)

Right! Japan is an interesting cultural study, from adopting Ming Chinese culture way back when to adopting Western culture in both the Victorian era and post-WWII. And yes, that reminds me of the line from Back to the Future:

"No wonder this circuit failed. It says 'Made in Japan'."
"What do you mean, Doc? All the best stuff is made in Japan"

And this is true, Japan seems to respect IPs while China is a complete laissez-faire attitude. "They got it, we want, consider it done." (which could also be used to describe a lot of the foreign policy, too...) I've been thinking that for a while, the official Disneyland in Shanghai will make things interesting for these knock-off parks. I always believed it had less to do with Disney being wanting in in the Chinese market, since they have Hong Kong (although, like you said, Hong Kong is special case) but more to combat these cheap knock-offs with the real thing in ways the knock-offs could never compete with.

That is very...strange. Cool, but strange. I read the whole article, and looked at all the pictures.
It shows a lot of static statues and stuff...but doesn't really show you much of rides or actual attractions!

Still, it might be cool to ride "Splash Of Monster Blood" as much as Splash Mountain!

Not all of China is covered with smog - just the industrial areas. America's industrial cities used to have a lot of pollution, too. That's what happens when you make stuff.

I don't play video games since Pitfall Harry got all new-fangled on the Atari 2600, so i don't know about WoW, but the park looks fine to me. :)

But the panda on the noodle shop looks a lot like the panda from the movie.
