If you look closely, those planters are made up up the Tree of Life's roots. It's VERY pretty.

Seeing as it was just a walkway expansion for nighttime entertainment, i'm not exactly sure what you were expecting.Yikes they set the imagineering bar really low for that expanded area, lacking that magical touch. Ugly.

The hub is a much larger area, much larger project and it will have a lot of trees, bushes, and flower beds. Look at the screen capture in the hub thread.And the Hub of the Magic Kingdom will be just the same. So should we have little expectations for the hub if that is the bar you are going to use for theming?

The two projects aren't even comparable. This project was simply to give room for performers and increased traffic. The area isn't even that big to start with.
