Photopass+ questions...

Is this recommended for a first time visit?

I want to do it and probably will. How many pictures do you usually get taken per day with their photogs? We'll be there 4 full day since we're staying with family after our world vacation.

I really want to have some great pictures from our first visit.

we were there for 2 weeks (11 park ticketed days) and had over 1,000 photos attached to our photopass+. Heres a tip...preorder to save some money if you do decide to get it.

also sometimes retail me not has coupon codes. That's how we were able to get a photobook attached to our preorder free when we ordered it last year.

To me, spending money on photography that I can take myself for free (or ask a CM to take), or in the case of stock images, download online for free, would be a waste. However, it's a very individualized decision -- if the special Disney photoshopped images (e.g., your child holding Tinkerbell), on-ride photos, and not having to carry your own camera mean a lot to someone, then certainly I can see how Photopass might be worth it to them. Personally, it's not an expense I can justify.
I will agreed and disagree with this. Until this trip I was 100% in agreement with you. We barely ever used PhotoPass (except for one or two pictures each trip that I never ended up purchasing anyway) on any trip. I always carried my camera and was our family photographer. On average each trip we've taken since my son was born has resulted in around 400 photos taken. Plenty to fill a memory book for sure.

But... then I realized... I've lived the past 6 years of my Disney Trips through a lens. I've spent more time looking through a viewfinder or at a digital screen than I have looking around with my own eyes and taking it all in. When the PhotoPass+ announcement happened I sort of had that "ah ha" moment of clarity where I realized this was my opportunity to put the camera away and truly take in everything around me while letting the myriad of photographers on property capture our memories. Sure I'll be pulling out my phone to take some shots of certain specific things (i.e. New Fantasyland, Test Track) but when it comes to those things we've seen before, I want to see them through my own eyes for once rather than through the photos I upload to the laptop each night when we get back to the resort.
