An E Ticket - the Lagoon was basically where Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is now (Plus the path towards Be Our Guest), and the indoor showbuilding taking up the space now occupied by the Mermaid building and all its outdoor queue. Even the Drydock stretched across what is now the Mermaid Queue, Belle's Village Restrooms, and into Be Our Guest. It was a massive attraction:

Didn’t they keep the wall of the original show building? Something to do with not filing permits I think? Last time I was on Mermaid I was using my phone’s compass to try and see what wall was the original. Maybe I’m making this up, ha!

Anyways, this ride was epic. People can say it looked outdated all they want, you know what else is outdated? The CGI in both CA and FL’s Nemo rides. To me 20k is the ultimate themed ride, just insane.

There was also a sea serpent in the Pirates of the Caribbean thing at DisneyQuest, right? And a sea serpent statue/fountain thing that was part of the Discovery Island River Cruise thing?
And a sea serpent in World of Motion before it became Test Track.

My understanding is that the North and East retaining wall of the 20K showbuilding were kept and used in the construction of the Mermaid showbuilding. You can see that in this New Fantasyland construction photo from 2010:

Beautiful. I never got to go on this ride as a Californian so it’s bittersweet being in the park in this area. I bug the hell out of my wife every time we’re in that area.
How are attraction replacements almost always immense downgrades
😭
😭

It sure feels that way…World of Motion, Imagination, Horizons, 20K, Mr. Toad, Alien Encounter, etc At Disneyland the original Subs, Country Bears, People Mover. Do you think Disney ever realizes how much they mess up? Maybe deep down?

Here are a couple other pictures that were posted. One is a pre-fab of the graveyard of lost ships and another is a renovation shot of the ships, I had seen the later but still interesting.

Man. What I would give to return MK and EPCOT Center to their former glory. The classic dark rides and themes of EPCOT, with the classic attractions of MK....20K Leagues Under the Sea, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, and Splash Mountain. It amazes me how Disney literally makes their parks worse over time. All I ask is they maintain the stuff they already have...but no!! TEAR IT DOWN!!!

You know Disney loves IP so much, you'd they'd do a better job promoting classic Disney IPs that if treated right, guests would eat up, whether they originally rode them or not.

It is sad and disturbing the short sightedness, the lack of appreciation and lack of understanding Disney management has for the many artifacts accumulated over the years. The Disney plane was finally rescued and placed in a museum after being allowed to rot in a field, the burial in a land fill of 99% of the 20,000 leagues Nautilus submarines as just two large examples. Disney has artifacts that can easily populate a substantial sized museum with AA's alone. At auction these items would definitely have substantial value, but, trashing / unceremoniously disposing of artifacts is managements way to handle things.

A museum really is a good idea, not sure how busy it would be though. I have a feeling only diehard Disney fans would visit. But then again they have the property and the means to fill it.

One man's Dream always seems to be pretty busy
