I hope that you are correct.I suspect Tomorrowland is in Lasseter's crosshairs at both DL and WDW even as we speak. Just a hunch. Purely a hunch.

I don't know, I wonder too. I really hope its open when we go Sept. 15-23rd. It does look like its very close to opening if they are releasing pictures.
That number was mentioned recently but I can't remember the source. I tend to believe it will be closer to that than the figure you mention. Time will tell.
I think they will be of that quality if not as complex. For example, the new train station vs the old train station for FL. And the elaborate new add where the skyway was. These are projects green-lighted under the team of Iger/Lasseter that are laying the groundwork for greater things in the future. Space Mountain's refurb was a quick fix that did not originate from the new management structure and is an echo of the past. Restored MSUSA is the future. I suspect Tomorrowland is in Lasseter's crosshairs at both DL and WDW even as we speak. Just a hunch. Purely a hunch.
Bahahaha. No way they spend 1 billion no matter how much you or I want that to be true. I remember the article you posted in the other thread (which was pure speculation on the part of the Hollywood Reporter) mentioned a 500 million dollar budget. That is the absolute max I've seen. And there are already reports Disney wants to slim that budget down.
And I'd love if Tomorrowland was actually in Lasseter's crosshairs but since no one (no announcements, no insiders, nothing) has seen hide nor hair of any developments on that front, I just have to be skeptical. Maybe, maybe in DL. At least I think that is much more possible than him pushing for anything at WDW. He hasn't been really involved with WDW all that much and I don't see that changing at least until Iger leaves and probably not even after that. You always talk about them "laying the groundwork for greater things in the future"...but what evidence is there that that is the case? There isn't any.
And again, just absolutely no way they spend a billion on Avatar. The only reason they spent that much on DCA was because the park was such a mess they absolutely had to do something if they wanted people to keep coming. If they weren't willing to spend that kind of money on NFE, no way Avatar gets that budget. They already seem skittish enough as it is on the project...almost a year later and the only thing announced is that an attraction will involve flying...that doesn't say to me they have tons of confidence in the project.
I honestly would love for you to be right in your speculation about Tomorrowland and Avatar but given how TDO has shown time and time again that they operate, I just don't see it happening.
Your type cynacism was common around here just before the FLE was announced so you will have to understand if some of us are skeptics of such cynicism. Everything you mention about Avatar is pure conjecture by those not invited to the meetings. Have a miserable day because I am sure that you are not capable of having a good day. lol
On the contrary, I am capable of having a great day...it fact, I am having a great day today. I've had a great last few weeks!
And why shouldn't I be skeptical? I'm not being skeptical just to be a pain in the or antagonistic or even to argue with you JT. Like I said, I would LOVE for Avatar to have that budget. But I'm basing my opinion on the pattern I've seen TDO follow time and time again and again and again and again. They cut budgets on virtually every single project they have. They have a pattern. And established well known pattern. This is well documented fact...and I base my opinions on facts as much as possible rather than silly conjecture. They only spent the billion dollars on DCA because they absolutely had to, and even that project originally had a proposed budget of at least a half billion more. For something more WDW related, the original budget for NFE was 800 MILLION DOLLARS. And then....
Oh hey, what do you know? They slashed that budget almost in half. Shocker... not.
When was the last time there was a project at Disney where they said "here is the budget, we aren't going to reduce it, go crazy" ...it's been years. Or when was the last time they gave extra money to a project because the Imagineers in charge said it wasn't enough to bring the quality up to the Disney standard? ...again, it's been years.I would love to see that pattern stop but nothing TDO has done so far or said so far points me into thinking anything is changing. So why should I expect anything different when it comes to Avatar? And again, the max budget I've seen proposed is approximately 500 million. If you link me the source you mentioned, ok, but until then, that's what I've seen proposed. Now, do we know for sure TDO is attempting to reduce the budget? No. BUT, pretty well trusted Disney Insiders like Lee, ect have said Disney wants to reduce the budget. And I'd say Lee is privy to a lot more info than we are. I do take everything with a grain of salt and don't just take everything like that said as fact but hearing that again keeps in line with the pattern I've seen so far.
And also, right back at ya ... Everything you say is also pure conjecture regarding Avatar, Tomorrowland, and whatever else new project you are on about today as happening "soon" because Lasseter/Iger are team awesome socks and can do no wrong, especially considering when you present no facts whatsoever to support the theories you present.
Ahhhh...you are back to quickly dismissing anything logical and fact based...well, at least that's good to know Hope you've had a good day like I have. You must be new here.

I'm not.You must be new here.
I'm not.
Skipper John is not currently involved in pushing any projects for WDW. He simply isn't.
Tomorrowland at Disneyland is getting a new E-Ticket. MK's is currently not. Same for Frontierland.
The budget for Avatar will come in at under $500mil. I'm told that is a hard ceiling, and may lower considerably.
(Whoever cooked up that billion dollar figure is nuts. It generated quite a lot of laughter in Glendale.)
I am unaware of any plans for a new DAK resort.Wasn't there some talk of a new DAK resort? Perhaps they were including that and a share of the NextGen money.
I am unaware of any plans for a new DAK resort.
But, something like that would be the only way to get Avatar to much over $500mil. Even then not a billion.
I don't think there is any connection between Iger's political future (if he has one) and Parks and Resorts spending. Here is a thought. WDW74 and others have claimed Iger is in line to be pushed to be a Senetor from NY. What are the odds he is under pressure not to spend in Florida from the political power brokers that would make or break his campaign? I know they do not like Scott and I could imagine they do not want Disney money helping him create jobs any faster than he already is.
I know we are not supposed to do politics but in this case I think it is in context.

That's a bit of a stretch...
I have already answered the accusations you throw at me numerous times. All available with the "search" function. I have wayyyyy to many things to do that make it impossible to keep bringing rookies up to date. People with your blinders come and go around here all the time. But I still appreciate your participation. And I will even 'like' your contribution because I know that is important to you.
I am not a rookie. No I haven't had an account for years but I've been reading a lot longer than I've had an account. I did search. Whatever you are referring to must be obscure or I'm using the wrong phrasing. But it's amazing that you have all the time in the world to respond to me and others but you don't have the time to support any of your arguments with actual facts. If you really ever want people to take you seriously, start doing that. And if you want a person with blinders on, you need to take a look in the mirror. What Lee said above was a lot about what I was talking about. Now I know I don't have the same experience and credibility as Lee but my points remain the same.
Also, in regards to your last statement, I have already told you once before, this insinuation offends me. I do not appreciate it and I ask you to stop. I do not post on here because I want likes. They are appreciated but if I didn't even have one, I wouldn't care. I come here because I enjoy talking with fans about a place I love, whether they agree with me or not...I actually like that. Everyone having the same view would result in a pretty boring place. But again, I don't appreciate what you keep implying at all and ask you to stop now. I hope you extend me this courtesy and thank you in advance.
I hope that you are correct.
I thought that was your forte.WOW! I have over 12,000 posts and you searched them in less than an hour! Count me impressed! Are you a computer or a real person?
