Even if you got 20,000 signatures you will have as much success as if you walked out your front door and screamed "be nice"...these petitions make me laugh. I do not mean to belittle your intentions as they are honorable but the reality is that online petitions have tried time and time again with zero success.

While this may be true, it never hurts to encourage people to be proactive as opposed to apathetic/indifferent.

First, there is just no good way to do it. It will be a lot of "he said, she said", CM won't know the truth unless they witness issues. Having a laid out guideline may give people that are victims of rudeness to fly off the handle at other guests that may or may not know they're being rude. I think most people are just ignorant, not rude.

Secondly, rude guests have money too, and Disney wants it.

Thirdly, our personal experience with rude people is minimal, and someone you don't even know should not be able to ruin your vacation. Basically, I think confrontations are not common enough to require laid out guidelines.

And that is why YouTube remarks are unreadable.

Some people just should not talk.(not directed at Heather)

No offense taken.

Perfectly articulated :)

I think people should concentrate on their own fun and not have their nose in other peoples business looking to judge what's rude or not rude. I think some folks are just looking for confrontations with other guest. You are correct how the heck are CM's supposed to do this?

Two words. Political correctness. How dare anyone judge anyone else's conduct.
So true!! We may not always agree on whether or not some behaviors are inappropriate, but I think we can all agree on the big ones. I get so tired of people being afraid to speak their minds on what is right and wrong due to political correctness.

I know everyone has their moments, and I have done my share of things that could be considered rude, but I always try to pay attention and apologize as soon as possible if I do something that could be considered rude. Just yesterday, I was filming some video, and I accidentally walked right in front of someone pushing a stroller. Luckily, they stopped, but I immediately stopped filming and apologized. They said "No problem," and we went on our way. It really shouldn't ever be any harder than that if people will just pay attention to what's going on around them and make some attempt to be courteous or at least apologize when they are not.

@Siren

AMEN!!! I wish they had a movie or something that everyone was forced to watch with your rules listed above. (On busses? Monorails, boats?)

The only problem is...

The people who break these rules would do so anyway (if they were formally presented to them), because they lack respect for others regardless of WDW is reminding them to be courteous or not.

These people will always be trash (not talking socio-economic level). You can be rich, middle-class or poor and still act like garbage. WDW is becoming worse with it every few years we go and they really need to take out the trash.

By trash I'm referring to people that are using 4 letter words (even when there are young children around, people littering & spitting gum out on the pavement, two women fighting in line trying to hit another family (yes, that was a viral video earlier this summer) and shouting profanities in waiting lines. (((I've seen all of these the last couple years))).

In the Parks
No
The two of these that I would like to see enforced are the cell phone one and holding up devices to record shows. I know for the latter, at the Frozen Sing Along, they tell you that you are welcome to take pictures, but please make sure your device does not impede the view of others. I think they should say this at the firework and parades as well.

As to the poll question, people are going to be rude. That is the sad state of humanity right now. What you can do, for the most part, is control your reaction to the situation and not let it ruin your vacation. That's what you have control over. For the most part, you can choose to let it ruin your vacation...or not. And if a guest's behavior is seriously interrupting things, all you have to do is go talk to a CM. Many times, they will be able to help.

I laugh, yes petition Disney about things they can control like maintenance of rides, the msb being outsourced to Starbucks.

This!

There's bigger issues that the park must address first. Yes, rude behavior is just that, rude. However, what one sees as rude, another sees as completely appropriate. Rules and actions taken on behavior are so subjective that it is almost a lawsuit waiting to happen.

what happens at Disney is no different than what goes on anywhere in the country. You have probably seen more ignorant behavior at the local supermarket or leaving the church parking lot than at Disney. Folks chill out! The majority of guests are just fine.
