Peter Pan's Shadow(s)

The ride is in bad shape in several places and is in need of a major overhaul, but not happening just yet.

it amazes me what bad shape parts of the ride are. The volcano has peeling what looks like peeling tin foil inside the crater. It really is bad. That being said, my kids would ride it over and over and over....

yeah, the ride could really stand to be brought into the 21st century. It lags significantly behind Disneyland's version in terms of magic. Heck, a little fiber optic would go a long way.

And if they could add Paris's capacity-boosting boats, that would be a huge plus as well.

That said, I still find it super charming and it is one of my MK favorites, even if it is in need of a refresher.

It amazes me to no end how many people of how many different ages will wait in a 90 minute line to ride this attraction. No thrills, it's in bad shape and could really use a major clean-up if not a full re-furb/modernization and yet we all still just love it. I hope it will get some TLC soon; its neighbor across the road is in its second refurb in 2 years after all.

The really sad part about a rehab of this ride is how cheap (in terms of rehabs) this rehab would be just to freshen it up with some better sound, lighting, paint, fiber optics and cleaning. This isn't anything that would set TDO way back in terms of construction dollars. Peter Pan's Flight at WDW is a example of TDO short sightedness IMHO.

Very well could be, or, with the expansion going on and the refurbing of 2 other attractions, maybe it's just next on the list (I hope).

What's the difference in Paris' boats? Are they wider? Two Rows?

Yep, they have 2 rows, so they can fit 4 adults rather than 2. I believe the ride itself is almost identical to Disneyland (this is hearsay; I haven't actually visited Paris).

I'm convinced a state-of-the-art version with increased throughput as part of a new PH would be beyond awesome.

Probably just wishful thinking though.

Flash photography in dark rides is extremely rude. Sometimes I damn the advent of the digital camera with all of the folks who snap away, ruining the low light vision adjustment of those content to not take flash pictures.

I wasn't too impressed with this ride. It looks amazingly even cheaper than E.T...

It looks like a bunch of little dolls in a bunch of places that the boats can swerve around!

Which is why I said in my original post that there was no one else around. Thanks for the fresh breath of moral authority though!

Above all else, what that ride needs is animatronics. Why people wait in line for 60 minutes just to see Peter Pan and Wendy's heads move up and down is beyond me...

The only thing that helps keep the ride's continued existence in such an un-repaired state justified is the novelty of it being a "flying" dark ride.

Put the ride vehicles back on the ground, and it's less impressive than Snow White, and on par with Pooh which gets away with the slight novelty of the "living" vehicles.

I still love all of them, and I ride them every time we go, but if it weren't for the novelty of their vehicles, these rides are just about the least impressive things in the park, IMO.

Perhaps this is why Snow White may see a replacement, since her ride is the only dark ride remaining that's completely flat with nothing interactive or novel.
