Pirates should really be ashamed for fat-shaming someone! How dare they! Haha
They're not pirates. They are comedic characters in vignettes aimed at making a modern family smile and laugh. And, like I said, it never ruined my mom's day, but it did make her feel sad and ugly enough to mention it. And I'm sure she wasn't alone. If we can tell a joke that we ALL can enjoy, why not try? I feel like that was always Walt's MO.

Did I need it to change? No. Did I think it was right to rethink the scene? Yes.

Tokyo still has the OG auction scene, another reason to go back.
And not a single person riding it is offended, just like in the US parks.

All part of the embarrassing virtue signaling nonsense.

But hey, enjoy that pirate auction!

The first thing murderous pirates do after burning and ransacking a town is bid on antiques!

“Ooh, I hope I get the grandfather clock!!!”

Pirates is still a spectacular attraction, even when it feels a bit like the Star Wars original trilogy Special Editions (so much unnecessary nonsense conspicuously thrown in for no reason). The Jack Sparrow stuff is still the biggest offender.

To get back on topic — Pan is also still great! The ride has survived two rounds of updates in recent memory without missing a beat. What a relief.
