It’s an A+ compared to the auction scene’s D+, to be fair. I’m bracing myself for the new stretching room hanging man to be a solid F.

But really, I’m not sure what else WDI could do, given the limitations.

I'd give it a 5 out of 7.

I know my mom was always mildly upset by the fat-shaming aspect of the sequence, long before "fat-shaming" was even a phrase.

They're not pirates. They are comedic characters in vignettes aimed at making a modern family smile and laugh. And, like I said, it never ruined my mom's day, but it did make her feel sad and ugly enough to mention it. And I'm sure she wasn't alone. If we can tell a joke that we ALL can enjoy, why not try? I feel like that was always Walt's MO.

Did I need it to change? No. Did I think it was right to rethink the scene? Yes.

[Too Many Hats]

Pirates is still a spectacular attraction, even when it feels a bit like the Star Wars original trilogy Special Editions (so much unnecessary nonsense conspicuously thrown in for no reason). The Jack Sparrow stuff is still the biggest offender.

To get back on topic — Pan is also still great! The ride has survived two rounds of updates in recent memory without missing a beat. What a relief.
