Peter Pan "swords" confiscated in Paris airport

This line is so typical...

_______________________________________________________
"His amazement at the entire episode was underlined for Pete (the dad), when after the swords had been confiscated by the French "jobsworths" he saw vicious looking metal spikes for sale just yards away in the duty free shop."

The metal spikes were probably sitting next to the "Build Your Own Trebuchet" carry-on kit.

I think if that happened to me, I would have gone over to the duty free shop, bought the spikes and carried them onto the plane to furthur illustrate the absurdity of the situation. Then demanded they hand over the plastic swords if they are going to let me onto the plane with the spikes. I think they probably would have capitulated at that point. ;)

I don't care if this is mean...I feel like posting this:

Q: Why are the streets of Paris lined with trees?
A: Because the German army likes to march in the shade.

Q: What's the most important piece of equipment all French soldiers are given?
A: A rear-view mirror to watch the war with

Q: Why aren't there any fireworks on Bastille Day?
A: Because the French would just surrender

Its a stupid thing to do i know, but when i was leaving Orlando international airport in july2001 I had to give up my replica light sabre that i bought from star tours. the flight attended said that it was a security risk too and i could be putting people in danger, so maybe its not just the french but everybody

The plastic ones? Have we all lost common sense? I mean were you going to jump up and flash the light in everyone's eyes momentarily disorienting the entire plane?

Rorymitch: This isn't the lightsaber you're looking for.

Officer: This isn't the lightsaber we're looking for.

Rorymitch: Move along.

Officer: Move along, move along.

I laugh so much that people say the light saber is a security risk.
It will be when: (the second 2 are not required.)
-Somone creates a laser that is powerful enough, doesn't eat energy, is continous, and can fit in the handle.
-Someone finds a way for the laser to stop at 4 feet.(not required)
-Someone finds a way so that the laser can't go through other lasers...(not required)
