Peter Pan closing?

This would totally knock me off my feet if they decided to close Peter Pan, considering the line is always so LONG, 45 minutes for 40 Second + Ride, thats CRAZY.

Okay, so let's see if I've got this straight. Based on threads that have cropped up here in the last week Disney is/should consider killing the following:
1. Adventureland - To be gutted and rethemed to pirates except for Pirates of the Caribbean, because there just isn't enough pirate junk around right now.
2. Frontierland - Tom Sawyer's Island isn't exciting enough (even though most of the posters haven't even bothered to visit it) so it should be razed for an "E Ticket."
3. Country Bear Jamboree - Because it's more than 10 years old and some just don't like it.
4. Peter Pan - Because they want to put in an E-Ticket in Fantasyland yet all of that space sits unused where 20000 Leagues used to be.
5. Snow White - Because, as its name says, it's scary.
6. Toontown - Again, an E-Ticket.
7. Tomorrowland - Because Indy isn't futuristic, COP is old, Buzz isn't E-Ticketish enough, Laugh Floor has nothing to do with Tomorrowland, and Stitch because fanboys can't stand that Alien Encounter got the boot it deserved. Oh, and because an E-Ticket is going in where COP and the old Skyway building used to be, and an E-Ticket is going in where Indy and Toontown are.
Did I miss anything? I suppose I could include The Many Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh because fanboys also want Mr. Toad back, and Hall of Presidents because it's not exciting enough.
If all these rumors/desires come true, the Magic Kingdom will have to be renamed E-Ticketland. Kiss the magic goodbye...

WDW's Peter Pan capacity is DOUBLE DL's Peter Pan (which only seats 2/3 per ship). DL is considering rebuilding the ride system with double seater ships like WDW has. The DL Peter Pan line is simply painful. Luckily, DL does not have Fastpass. I have not ridden WDW's Pan since they added Fastpass.

It hasn't really changed any of the wait times for the ride. They are very much the same, despite the unfounded rumors that FP adds time to the standby line.

So the FP line adds no time to the standby line? I guess they use Disney magic to stop time while the FP'ers load. Interesting.

Without the FP, you would just be waiting longer in the standby line as those people with passes waited with you...but believe what you want. Nothing I say here will really change your opinion.

the line needs some AC! even on a cool night the line is crazily muggy and sticky and you know that 100 sick kids caughed and sneezed in it earlier that day......
and the fastpass there needs to die but thats another argument

I would like to see Pan get a new track to support bigger ships. If they can make the ships two rows it would be a big help to increasing that rides otherwise poor capacity.
In terms of the ride itself, the animatronics and effects could use some sprucing up, and if possible I would also like to see the ships going through a star to enter neverland.

Ummm, when did they rebuild WDW's Peter Pan ships? Last I checked, it was one row with 2-3 people per ship.

That is correct and that's the problem they have had for ages. This is why it s always a long line.

Seems like everyone here is a fanboy for some ride or the other. I personally wouldn't miss Peter Pan or any of the Fantasyland dark rides. Disney magic started with a man, a vision and the utilization of the newest, latest and greatest methods and technology. Peter Pan no longer represents that, really. For many here, Disney has become their security blanket: a museum to preserve their childhood memories. Change is good. Innovation is Disney.

Look, there's nothing wrong with taking what they have and updating the methods and technology. I'm not arguing that with you. My argument is that there seems to be this great desire to simply bulldoze everything in favor of E-Tickets. That's dumb. There needs to be a balance in types of attractions so that everyone in the family has something they can do...and yes, something they can form a fond memory of. Change, to a degree, is good. If you completely abandon what made you you, then you're not you anymore. You're somebody else, and ultimately that somebody might not be what anyone wants.
Is there anything wrong with Peter Pan? No. Would it be cool if all the characters in it were the latest and greatest audio-animatronics? Sure. But to be honest, it just isn't necessary. It tells a simple children's story, and it still does it in a pretty amazing way. Pirate ships riding the underside of Monorail tracks are pretty darned amazing fifty years later, if you don't let yourself get all jaded because it wasn't built less than five years ago.
