Personal Papparazi

Okay.. maybe someone can explain this to me...

I'm standing around, doing my job at WDW, sweltering in the sun with a smile on my face.. and out of nowhere, someone stops, aims their camera and takes a picture of me.

Why do people do this? I really don't get it, and it's not like people I've done anything special for or anything, normally passerbys and such. Someone will be taking pictures of the topiaries or maybe of the building then they'll suddenly turn, point the camera at me and shoot away.

It doesn't really bother me or anything, I just find it strange.

Any ideas why people do this?

Funny how so many people I talk with regularly here forget I'm a CM.

I push buttons and control the Universe, of Energy that is.

I knew you were a CM, just didn't know where?

I think you just answered your own question though. You are all so beautiful, we can't help ourselves.

I have seen plenty of ugly CMs at Disney but it is your personality and attitude that makes them so great. The people with such arrogance are very unattractive to me.

Hmm... well...

I don't know if some people think i'm being arrogant or not.. i don't think I am, but anywho..

Really, I wanna know..

Why do people take pictures of random CMs?

I swear it's like "This is the building..." "This is the sign for the building..." "This is a person who works in the building..."

I guess we're jsut part of the scenery?

I had a bus driver that was doing the MK route from epcot resorts and I was sitting up front with my mom. I was about 8 at the time, and the driver turns around when he reaches the toll-booth area and says to me, "Have a nice day at the park" or something to that effect, but he had a tracheotomy, so he said it in that metallic monotonous tone that made SMRT-1 look like a genious. Scared the out of me....

Good question.

OK--first thing that comes to mind is that they cannot believe how attractive your costume is and they simply must have a reminder of its beauty.

I took a picture of a CM on Main ST who rushed out after a horse did what comes naturally to horses. I was impressed that all traces of the incident were gone in under 5 minutes--a great example of Disney attentiveness.

But, bottom line, I think you are right. CMs are yet another "prop"--part of the scenery, ambience, and magic.

Here is the building
Here is the shrubbery around the builidng
Here is the CM who works in the building

I'm sure you take it as a compliment, but I share your curiosity as to what happens to those photos.
