take a test. if you pass it-go to the DMV and set up a road test. My road test is december 2nd, hopefully it doesn't rain or snow then it freezes over.

hey Juan are you talking about the learners license(permit) or actual Drivers licence. Because I see that you are turning 16 soon.

is that like the rule in the state you live in? In Florida you can get a permit at 15 and a driver's license at 16. The problem is, is that you cant take your drivers test unless youve had your permit for a year. So if you get a permit at 15 1/2 you cant get your license until 16 1/2

South Carolina just changed their laws regarding all of this.

It used to be that @ 15, you could get your permit. Then after waiting 90 days you could get your restricted as long as you had had Driver's Ed. Once you turned 16, you didn't need Driver's Ed, but still had to have had your permit for 90 days. After getting your restricted, you just had to wait until you turned 17 for it to become a full license.

Now, things are different. The waiting period is now 180 days. That's six months which really bites. Plus, you have to have 40 hours of driving experience including 10 hours of nighttime driving before you can get your restricted. The good part is that there are no time restrictions like the old law, as long as there is a licensed driver/guardian in the car with you.

Even though I'm 16, I just got my permit last Friday (Parents  ). Since I waited, I'm under the new law, which means I can't get my license until December. The good news is that it will automatically be a full license without time restrictions.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that. :D

In Michigan you can take Drivers Ed (Segment 1) at 14 years 9 months. Then after you pass Segment 1, you get your permit. After at least 6 months, you have to take Segment 2 of Driver's Ed. Then you take a road test and get your license. Besides taking Segment 1 and 2, you have to drive 50 hours with a parent on your permit. You can then get your license at 16, but you have restricted driving hours (no driving between midnight and 5:00 am except for certain situations of which I'm not quiet sure) until your 17, then you have an unrestricted license. I've had my license for a year and a half, but my brother is just starting driver's ed. Its kinda scary!

Be thankful you're not my child! My daughter did not get her permit until she was almost 17 (and I made her take a 3 week driving course, then made her drive with me/my husband for 6 months) She also had to learn to drive a manual (stick) transmission. We gave her a choice between a "new" late model used car, or our old Nissan Stanza station wagon....with permission to have it painted/decorated any way she pleased, with Mom picking up the tab! Needless to say, she jumped for the old car, and has a unique, one of a kind vehicle. (which anyone who knows me can easily recognize...The Mom is pretty crafty, eh? ;))
