Just Curious what if any perks you get for taking the tour. My wife and I are dead set on buying into the DVC soon but have not done the tour. just self education. I know at one time they offered FP's or something similar. Do they still do that?

The full tour at Saratoga, or a room tour at CCV or AKL? It can vary, depending on whether you are already a member (in which case you usually get nothing), have taken a tour in the last 6 months or are new to it. Also depends on the day!

Typicallya mix or selection from FPs, gift cards and/or a meal / ice-cream.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you think we should do it even though this may not be purchased until mid 2020?

If you have the time it might be useful. We did ours some time ago now, but we didn’t find the salesman to be pushy at all. They will collect you, take you to SSR and then drop you back wherever you want to go.

The room Tours can be good if you particularly want to see a room somewhere (SSR have mock-ups for the latest resort(s). But the resort room tours can be subject to availability; not sure if you can really book it ahead.

If you're going to be in town so to speak, do the tour! Especially if you can manage it to see the Riviera type of rooms. Though the ones at CCV are super nice to see as well.

I know I did the tour but it may have been after I decided but before my resale went through? I'm honestly not entirely sure when I did that one. That was a long time ago. It's nice to just go see and check things out honestly. I did a quick tour at CCV and loved what I saw.

We did the SSR tour in November- lasted just over an hour. Free refreshments, they pick you up and drop off and it's very informative- we were very clear with what was available and what we would be buying into afterwards. It was fun to see the rooms also.

We received $25 each ($50 total) and 3 anytime FPs each (except for Slinky Dog, FoP etc).

If you haven't formally contacted DVC yet, and know someone who owns DVC, check with them. They may be able to get some benefits from "referring" you to DVC to take the tour. Usually the perks are 3 free FPs, and sometimes they up the ante with gift cards, but those aren't a common occurrence.

We took the tour on the 2nd day of our vacation in December and received 3fp each and $100 gift card. Went back 10 days later and signed up to be new dvc members!!!! And received another 3fp each.

Does anyone know if you get FPs for the whole family if they are all present, kids too?

Yes, kids will get them. Sometimes they will give them for all adults whether they’re there or not. But they do like anyone who will be involved in the decision making process to be there.

If you do the tour at SSR, there is a crèche for the kids, with free snacks etc.

Our first and second tours was in WDW and they gave us Fast Passes.
Our third was in Aulani and they gave us $50 Disney gift certificate and a dining certificate with limited menu to their primer restaurant for lunch, worth and extra $25 or so. As we were planning other things that day we took the gift card and just used it at DL on our homeward bound leg of our vacation. WE had to take a actual tour supposedly to gt the gift certificate, but the DVC specialist worked it out to just get us the gift card and a privater tour/meeting. AS we decided to buy into DVC at that point I think it wasn't a very big deal to them. The sales associates have some leeway it seems. Work it for whatever you think yo can milk it for, let them believe your gonna buy since your planning to anyways. :)

We did end up taking the tour on Sunday afternoon Feb 3rd. We made it clear that we would not be buying that day but wanted to have the official tour and ask questions. The lady in the hotel lobby was a bit shocked. we walked right up and said we would like a tour please. We met for the tour and spent close to two hours going over all the details and questions we had. With out askingm we were given three fast passes for each member of our travel party. It was my wife and i on the tour, the two other seniors who did not come also got them! We were also given a single $100 Disney gift card. They made sure it was all set before leaving the planning area.

It was certainly worth it as we were able to squash a bunch of the bad info we had got for the vacation club through second hand telling. The guy we had give us the presentation was an expertly trained sales person and very nice to talk to. Felt hard to squeeze in question when i wanted but we did go over all of them.

We did the tour of AKL Kidani last week, we were staying on Rented points at Jambo. We got $75/adult gift card ($150 total) and 3 fastpasses for the whole party.
