Per Diem Position

Hey I work at TDS

My GM said that we may be getting rid of the Per Diem position? This is no good for me as I was going to return to WDW and work for the summer and come back in the fall as a Per Diem CM! Does anyone know more about this rumor, if it's true or not?

Also- does anyone know whether or not we'll be getting the "gold IDs" that everyone is talking about?

From what I heard from my SM, the per diem position will still be in existance, but not with the full benefits that the regular CMs receive.

I'm not 100% sure about this though...

I'm not sure if you'll even be allowed to do this as far as being employed by WDW and TDS. When I did my CP in 2002 and 2003, I had to terminate myself from my Disney Store in order to work at WDW. I couldn't even keep a seasonal status there because it was considered a conflict of interest.

Things may have changed, but that is what happened to me. If it wouldn't have been for that, I'd be at my store for 9 years on May 9th.

I know that you can't be employed at both, however, you might be able to have a transfer made.

There is someone I worked with at my store at Wyoming Valley Mall who transfered down to Disney World to work. He lost the seniority that he had at TDS because of it being owned by HOOP, but he was told that when the company switches hands again, he will be able to retain his seniority. This is because anyone who is in a store staying open is going to retain their seniority. When he moved to florida to work, he remained per diem at our store in PA to maintain his seniority with Hoop just in case it switched back to Disney. He flew up here every so often to work just so that he wouldn't lose it. Now with the sale going on, he is most likely going to get his 7 years of employment back, but he won't be able to work in the store every now and then anymore...

SO...

That means if you list it as a permanent switch, you may be able to just transfer locations, but you can't work at the other location while employed at the other.

Again... not 100% sure... just throwing the ideas out there.
