Took family to the Disney Wilderness Preserve and these very black, solidish-looking, triangular bugs that were a little larger than a pencil eraser were on our legs. We could brush them off, but if we didn't, they just hung out on our legs. Even as we'd walk along, they'd just stay put.

We don't know if they flew on or crawled up, but they got as high as the lower thigh and didn't concentrate on ankles. They weren't really on the front of anyone's legs, though. Just the back.

We didn't feel any biting, much less stinging.

But the bites showed up later that night and the next morning. They look like mosquito or spider bites, but itch a whole lot more! The itchiness began 24-36 hours later and just kept getting worse.

They kind of looked like little stealth bombers.

Anyone have any idea what these things were?

I did a little research and this is the closest insect I've found so far.

Is this what it looked like?

EDIT-- I found out these bugs can't bite.

Nope! They were black-black. Black crayon black. Like a big, clear sky, seen at night, out in the woods black (minus the stars.)

Little stealth bombers.

Never saw them before.

But thanks for trying to help!!!!!!! Push, too!!!!

Maybe they're chigger bites and the little black stealth bomby guys didn't bite.

I just whacked a spider with a shoe and like one hundred baby spiders came out and ran about.

The bug horrification will not end today. I actually thought maybe I was having a nightmare, lol, but no such luck. :D

Those stupid stinkbugs? We have them EVERYWHERE in MD. Had to chase one off a bus when a girl saw one and started having a panic attack. They're the one bug the cat won't eat besides bees

I saw a moth with a 6" wingspan at 5am today. In addition to that, I almost ran over two armadillos on 417 before seeing the moth. :cat:

We had them really bad this spring here in Ohio. They kept finding their way into my shed. They seemed to have moved on because I haven't seen any for quite awhile. Maybe they are visiting you now.

They seem to be sticking around. It's going on three years that we've had the problem. Last time I cleaned my car, I found three dead in the back of it. It was disgusting.

Be warned, they seem to disappear...but they'll be back. If you see them, kill them. They're not wanted. Quickly stepping on them or smashing them in a tissue is the best way. They have no natural predators here.

Good lord, it's threads like this that make me glad we didn't end up moving to FL. I need to move to Alaska or something.
