Casey's Corner had my favorite penny arcade baseball game in the eating area prior to the refurb this year, but I havent looked for it since.

I looked for it too but it was not in there. Not sure if they moved it somewhere else or got rid of/put in storage.

Yes indeed, the Penny Arcade held much charm for Main Street.... I always went there, and it was a tremendous draw for the area, which turned into dollars spent in the ajoining retail and food locations. I am sure that Coke Corner, (Refreshment Corner), went down in sales when the transformation came, and the arcade was gone, and Casey's was created....

However, bottom line is that retail earning far exceed the earning potential of the Penny Arcade... so the change of use for the space was a good business choice.

On the other end of that stick, I do believe another location could be found for the Penny Arcade, and with proper planning, it would be a maketing tool to develop the new area for other food and retail operations which would reep the benefits.

As far as the actual machines from the Main Street Penny Arcade, many are scattered around Disney as many have posted here already.... while others have been saved for future generations, and have found a safe home with me.

I had worked for Main Street Operations for several years, so I made it a quest to preserve what I could from my era....

I have many of the actual Main Street Penny Arcade machines currently in operation at my Retro Arcade in Wildwood, New Jersey.

You are welcome to come see and play them, and escape to a happier time....

The Retro Arcade ha the entire ground fllor at the Boardwalk Mall, 3800 Boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ, and wil be open weekends this fall for another month or so, before it closes for the season.

Here are several news stories for those interested in me and/or my operations with Quest for preservation.

enjoy.

I have taken pictures of all the ones I have come across over the last few years. There are not many left and some that I have taken pictures of are already gone. Most are not working.

There are a few scattered along the Boardwalk Resort. Some work. One of the movie machines never came back when they refurbished them.

A few at the train station on Main Street of course
The one that was at caseys, which was never brought back after the remodel.

Disney Quest had the Horse Derby game there.

The grand Floridian has the huge auto playing organ in the restaurant.

Here is a link to the pictures I've taken. I add more when I either come across another or just taking new ones. The last machine I came across was one of the horse racing games at the Boardwalk Resort. It was sitting in the corner of a hallway all by itself. First time I took a picture was in 2006, it still had its control mechanisms. Now it's been refurbished and it's just a show piece now.

Just to chip in, we noticed these at the Main Street station on our visit in Sept/Oct 16.

Unfortunately, it does not seem like they work. Most of them had many pennies stuck in the insert....

It would be great if they could have these reconditioned just to get them to work.

Hello,

I was wondering what games and other machines are still scattered around MK from the old Penny Arcade. I know that I have seen in the past a few of the mutoscopes in the Main Street train station. Are they still there? I always loved the penny arcade and was upset when it was replaced by the every growing Emporium but my interest is even greater of late as I have recently restored 2 antique pinball machines from the 1930s. I would love to get another look at some of the old machines if they are still around.

These are the two machines I restored. Hoping to add to my collection in the future.View attachment 63195 View attachment 63196 View attachment 63197

Thanks,

Works of art. Beautiful job. Having said that, I only went into the penny arcade once, had to be maybe '82. I chose a machine that would test your strength, squeeze these handles together with one hand. I squeezed and was rewarded with a shock of electricity. Put me off arcade games and I never went back. Makes me laugh to think of it. I searched to see if that was a real thing and,
sure enough, electric shock arcade games. Go figure.

Very nice. I would love to see them again. I know some of the "motion picture" ones are at the Boardwalk resort. I just wish I knew what they did with the Hercules pinball machine that was in the Contemporary arcade. 2 people had to play that because it was so big you couldn't hit the flippers on each side.
