Passes without expiration

We have 3 days of parks and 7 days of water parks left on passes with no expiration. My passes are registered in My DisneyExperience. When I made the purchase my children were under 9 years old, they are now 18 and 16 years old. Someone told me I have to call Disney to book my parks, but I'm able to do that in the app. This person when she called Disney, she was charged $24 per child per park day for the child-adult difference. Do I have to call Disney first and will the passes be blocked when scanned if I haven't paid the difference?

Can you help me?

No
in 2017, my kids were older than 9 and didn't have any problem.
That's 6 years ago, so your kids were 12 and 10 and a lot closer to the cut-off age. At 18 and 16 it's a completely different scenario, and will be a problem.

I would definitely call. You don't want to be held up at the parks over something you could have called and had handled ahead of time. There's no way they'll let 16 and 18 year olds use passes that are for 9 and under. They let a lot slide, but that won't be one of them.

Are these very old "Magic Your Way" tickets with no expiration option? If so, Disney vowed they would not penalize children for "growing up"

Hi, we were the same, our children are now 16 and 13 and we had no issues recently. We did ask last year but we were told because they were purchased a while ago with no expiration, there was nothing extra to pay.
