I'm headed to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on September 12th and the shirt I want most from the special party merchandise happens to be a Pass Holder item. I was curious if anyone knows if Pass Holder items can be purchased without being a Pass Holder (I am not). I'm not looking for the Pass Holder discount. I just prefer this particular shirt over the others.

Pay a Passholder cash to get one for you. Will cost a little more, but, they would probably be willing to make a couple of bucks extra.

I'm as much for making a few dollars as anyone, but I would never think about charging someone money to help them buy a pin or something. Now if they asked me to help them buy five identical items, I'd know they were going on ebay and would just say no.

The easiest way to be able to buy passholder merch is to become a passholder. It's a perk of being a passholder. This will not sound nice, but non-passholders who want to buy passholder perk merch are, in my book, just a slight step above line jumpers and multiple-ADR holders.

Haha. I can promise you I'm not that nefarious. The shirt I want isn't somehow better than the other, I just happen to like the design more.

As long as you don't take into consideration that not everyone is able to or has a need to be a passholder, that is a good argument. Apparently you have a tree in your backyard that produces money on a daily basis, most people do not have that luxury. We aren't trading national secrets here, it's helping someone get a t-shirt they want... lighten up Francis!

Same thing goes when UoE Closed down and sold these shirts. The one on the right is the for guests where as the Left shirt is an AP Exclusive with the same image shown on the right shirt But, on the back side of it..

Being able to buy a passholder-exclusive item is just as much an exclusive perk as being able to use the Club Lounge while staying Concierge Level, or using the services of a VIP Tour Guide. You want the perks, you should pay for them. If you can get the item without being a passholder, it diminishes the value of the exclusive perk, and by extension, the value of being a passholder.

And I don't have a money tree, but I believe in entitlement where entitlement exists. Passholders can buy exclusive merch. Non-passholders can't. Furthermore, passholders who enable non-passholders to obtain passholder-exclusive merch are helping to damage the value of being a passholder.

I told you you wouldn't like my opinion, but that's the natural order of things here in America.

I'm not a passholder, but I agree with this. That's why it's exclusive merchandise. Just like how you can't buy the MNSSHP Framed Pin Set or Boxed one for that matter, outside of the party (unless purchasing via 3rd party sites). If it were available for everyone to get, it wouldn't be exclusive! As far as getting a passholder to get you one? I'm on the fence with that too. If I were the passholder, I'd be unsure of it because if you got caught, well, goodbye to being a passholder.

If you want the cool stuff, you gotta pay for it.

Haha! Thanks for the tips guys! I'll make sure to post a picture of myself in the very exclusive 'Pass Holder' shirt after I get one online!

Sorry to disappoint you, but nobody's "bent out of shape." I'm not even a passholder myself, but I can appreciate that passholder-exclusive merch exists as a perk.

So, when you wear the passholder-exclusive merch, does that make you a passholder? Or just a poseur?

It makes you someone who is wearing a cool t-shirt. I don't see this in the same league as taking 4 or 5 friends to the concierge lounge and letting them eat and drink for an hour.

So on the years we go to WDW we become pass holders and quite frankly we usually don't find the "exclusive" pass holder designs to our liking each time. However, to your point, as a pass holder I can buy this merchandise as a perk of my pass. Once home, I decide I really don't like it as much as I thought I did and put all of it on ebay and sell it to a fan in Ohio that has no need for an AP or give it to my niece who is a fan , but not an AP holder. Is this ok based on your thoughts of a perk?

Once you buy it, it's yours. You're under no obligation to uphold Disney's passholder value. Nobody's going to swoop in and confiscate your shirt because you're selling it on eBay.
But if you bought it because it's an "exclusive" item, do you not contribute to that perk's devaluation?

No. I don't think it's devalued. I didn't recreate a thousand pieces (pin, t-shirt, etc) and flood the market. If the pin is one of 10,000, the company got their $16.95 for that. If I sell it or in my case more than likely give it away, Disney still has their money from me (the AP holder) and the number of limited items remains the same. All that's changed is possession. What I do find a blatant disrespect for the perk, is an AP holder that buys a dozen or two of the items for the sole purpose of selling them online. I know, what's the difference between one and two dozen? Call it selective ethics, if you will.

For someone not bent out of shape you sure seem like your bent out of shape.
