I'm back from my trip to Chicago. I had a great time (too great as a matter of fact since I'm still in recovery). We stayed at the Whitehall Hotel right off Michigan Ave. (The Magnificent Mile) The place is beautiful. It's one of those older Hotels that is rich in history and clientele. Spent the first day at museums, aquariums and planetariums, shopping on State Street and Michigan Ave. and that night went to a place called Excalibur. The food left something to be desired but the music and dancing were great.
Saturday I went to the Cubs game, saw the Cubbies win, a bench clearing and yes a fan threw back a St. Louis homerun ball onto the field. That night went to Navy Pier and had dinner at Joe's BeBop Café and Jazz Club. The band was excellent (Bopology) and the food was out of this world (I had the Jumbolia). After dinner we walked the Pier and watched the Fireworks.
Sunday was a quiet morning at Lincoln Park Zoo and the afternoon was for the horses, the horses at Arlington International Racetrack. Didn't do too badly. Won a couple of $2 Quenelles so I came out about $80 ahead.
NOTE: DisneyQuest downtown was completely dead. No wonder they are closing it. ESPNZone was rocking as I had expected.
Anyway, it's good to be back on the boards. It looks as though we have had some interesting conversations over the last four days but now everyone can relax because I'm back and everything is back as it should be.
