Parks are Taking a Back Seat?

As long as Disney executives see themselves as running an entertainment company, the parks are safe. If they decide, however, they're running a media/content provider company, all park bets are off.

Theme parks, hotels, transporation systems and food service networks are not core competencies of media/content providers.

No, but it is what the competition (i.e. Comcast) is doing with the Universal parks. It'd be a setback to competition to divest the parks.

Could it be the parks and resorts are not generating a lot of revenue right now so Disney is looking at other places for cash flow until the US/World can get back to normal?

You are completely correct. It is just a shame the people here don't know the truth. Listen to Comcast's quarterly conference calls, there are hardly any questions about their parks. Comcast is a cable company. Disney is a media company. The parks make a nice profit and are growing slowly. The company cares about the parks but the future profits will be from streaming. We should be happy because those billions on profits will provide the capital to invest more in the parks.

You're completely delusional. There is an obvious reason why there is less talk about the theme parks during investor calls. It has nothing to do with streaming.

I mean they might make more money from something else, but its not like there's a reason to burn the parks down anytime soon. If anything, maybe it will be a good thing that the company see the parks as something that's promotional to help build the value of their brand and foster goodwill, as opposed to something that's supposed to be squeezed for every last drop of profit from. Think about it like how Tesla has showrooms in upscale malls across the country where they aren't expected to really sell anything from, but they use to promote the cars and the brand. The parks could be useful to get people in and get them excited about Disney so that they want the streaming service, and possibly any upgrades to it that they add as well. They could also put Disney+ in every hotel room too to get people hooked on them.
