Parking garage + other buildings backstage @ DHS

Hey,
Just curious does anyone know what the parking garage and other various buildings backstage at DHS is used for? I know a parking garage is used for parking cars :p but why does this park have a large one behind it? If you go on google maps you'll see it just behind the earful tower, there's also a couple other multi-story buildings behind The Art of Animation.
I'm sure it's nothing overly exciting, but I couldn't find anything when I tried to search so I'm wondering if any of you know.

Thanks!

From the looks of it, I would assume the parking garage is for Cast Member parking, since there doesn't seem to be any other areas large enough for the CM's to park.

It's a cast member lot and as I understand it, largely reserved for managers. The other cast lot is with the rest of guest parking (Television lot I think, it's the first lot on the left hand side as you enter through the World Drive entrance). They will however put more cast in the garage during heavy traffic periods (like Christmas and whatnot) and guests will park in the normal cast lot. The other cast lot is a small one over near Tower of Terror.

The parking garage was built when Feature Animation was heavily expanded (for Mulan, IIRC). It opened May 1997.

And look what happened.

Most WDW upper-management is now located in the former Animation offices. Some centralized park operations are there, too. (Payroll, etc)

It was part of a big remodel project, there was a big parking lot used by the animators and cast member parking. So they built a parking garage and offices for the animators and moved the cast services bldg to the other side and moved cast parking also. And they modified the route for Backstage Tour trams so they cleared a lot of room to build Rock n' Roller Coaster.
