Why are all the parks named Disneyland?

In Florida the park is called the Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney World is the name of the entire Resort.

then there is (WDW as a prefix) Epcot, MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom.

I think what attisb was referring to is the fact that the name "Disneyland" is the one that is repeatedly used when opening new parks around the world (i.e. Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland). I've often wondered the same thing myself.

my theory, arent those parks "single parks", so to speak, unlike WDW that has 4 parks and a plethora of Resorts and other amentities.

by single parks i mean that they are like disneyland california by being a park then maybe something extra like CA hooked on the side.

Yes this is what I mean.

It has to do with the size. WDW is 43 square miles. Disneyland(s) are no where near that size. Though Paris has quite a bit of land as well.
