Park Hours:

I just don't understand the hours they choose for the parks special Magic Kingdom. Were going to be there June 1-10 and this is a peak time but their parks hours are like 10pm some nights and 11pm others. We have always went at this time of year and the park would close at 1am and with the extend night open till 3 am. We alays took advantage of this late night by being able to sleep in a bit before hitting the parks.

June 1-10 will be peak prices but the major crowds won't show up until round the end of your stay. Many schools are still in session or just finishing up that week. Also they often add hours a week or two in advance. Plus extra hours are going to AK then.

I can't imagine them not adding more hours as the time approaches; they often do this. I will say that last week they skipped EMH at Epcot on Tuesday night for the first time in a really long time, so they sometimes do crazy things. Helenabear is right, though, all of the efforts are going to be focused on AK and Avatar this summer.

The good part of it is that you can choose not to go. This way the hours have no meaning. You could also rent the park out to yourself. Its all in the choices you make. The park will be far less crowded the week you are there than 2 weeks later.

It seems to be rather unfair with the price of tickets to close the park so early, esp in the June, July, and August months. It has the appearance of either being cheap or not really caring about the customers.
It seems to be more and more the case that Disney has forgotten their tradition of being a customer oriented company. Disney is in desperate need of new leadership or a reevaluation of their priorities. Overpaying for Star Wars seems to be the first misstep and are now playing catch up at the expense of long time customers.

Park hours may change as time gets closer. I've noticed a significant cut on Extra Magic Hours though.

You think that is bad, we went to Universal and they closed the parks at 6 one of the days for a private party. We could see the coasters running from the hotel room. It was frustrating. Very thankful WDW doesn't pull that stunt (that I am aware of).

I know WDW does paid extra time. We did that at Halloween. It was awesome.

And the comment I made was completely valid as well. Park hours are not guaranteed. I use to pay $250 per ticket for a week. It use to be more affordable. I use to be able to stay onsite. Now Values are $125+ a night.

The hours have certainly changed over the years, the 1AM, 2AM, 3AM closings are rare now, outside of Christmas week. I too used to love taking advantage of those hours, we would sleep in a bit, hit the pool up in the morning then start our "park day" from 1PM on...
