Park Hopper + Questions

This month will be my first trip back to DW in 10 years and my first time using a magic band and the park hopper plus option. Was wondering how exactly going to places like miniature golf and the water park work with this option. Are reservations needed? Are there magic band readers at mini-golf, etc that lets the places know I have the plus option? Any other insider tips/advice for using the plus option I should be aware of? Thanks for any help in answering this.

I have never had a park hopper plus ticket, but when Disney used to give four free tickets per reservation for mini golf, I used them a few times. We just showed up without a reservation. We didn't have to wait long at Summerland, but did have to wait about 30 minutes for Fantasia. I don't go to the waterparks, but I am fairly certain you just show up there too since they are not part of the park reservation system. Just like any other ticket, the type of ticket you have will show up on your Magic Band or the app.

No reservations needed. Weve mini golfed many times at the different sites and never encountered a wait to play. Sometimes we are behind a slower playing family, but I cant remember waiting long to start playing a round. Most guests are park bound so mini golf isnt on their must do list. Its mostly something else to do to fill in time or an added treat. Families with kids tend to go more to W/S, adults and those with upper aged kids Fantasia, because its more challenging.

Just got back from a trip with the plus option. No reservations needed and they do scan your magicband. You have to be through the gates by 4 pm for mini golfing or the water park to use the tickets though.

Reservations for mini-golf aren't needed when it's not busy, and I don't think they're honored when it is. We've showed up in the past with a confirmed reservation for a specific course on a busy day (e.g., "Winter" side at Winter Summerland) and been told that the wait would still be an hour! Having the reservation did nothing. Every other time we've gone to either mini-golf location, they haven't been too busy and we had no problem getting a "walk-up."
