Hi everyone,
I know that MK is usually very busy at rope drop, but what about other parks? Are they ask packed? My little boy is a big fan of toy story and so the day that we go to DHS I really want him to go see buzz lightyear. Would it be worth it to be here at 8? We will be at Disney 2nd week of June.

MK is not busy at rope drop. It feels busy because everyone is crammed in to a very small space before the park actually opens. But once it does, you have a good 30-45 minutes of minimal wait times depending on the time of year.

My suggestion is get there as early as possible and you'll be fine. You don't have to be "first" in line to get a lot done from 8am-10am.

You can actually do A LOT at night during parades, during fireworks, and in the last 30 minutes before closing. I know you have a younger child, but napping during the day so he's OK at night would be a good option too.

There is usually a big crowd rush at DHS as well, almost all of which heads right to Toy Story Midway Mania.

I'm not sure if the crowd rush also heads to the adjacent Toy Story meet-and-greet or whether those characters are even on station that early in the morning.

Haha we will be heading that way too. So I guess he will be part of the crowd.

You'd be surprised that soon after rope drop the previous jammed area is usually empty. Aside from the obvious draws (Dwarf Coaster, Soarin, TSMM) there should be light or no queues elsewhere for the first hour or so.

All the parks have early crowds chomping at the bit to get in. But it's always worth it to be there early. When the CM's begin the opening walk to let the crowds in, they ask/ warn guests to be courteous and not run over everyone... buuuut you have to be careful cause theres always some idiots who try to outrace everyone else to be one of the first. Courtesy, manners and love for your neighbor go out the window at rope drop. Still, theres no need to panic cause the ride lines are light and easily manageable as others have mentioned.

Yeah, that first hour is the key. We usually plan to arrive with our coffees about an hour before posted opening time, get in line, enjoy the ambiance. If one of our party needs to use the restroom, we can hold their spot. Talk with other excited park goers in line. Regardless of park, the gate area will seem very crowded but as soon as the gates open the crowd disperses rapidly. When folks ask me for Disney advice, I tell them this is the most important thing I can tell them is to GO EARLY. In general most people on vacation aren't wired to get up early. Now if you wait until 10 a.m. that's a different story, as the crowds will pick up. But you'd be suprised what you can ride in that first hour, even without FP. Just my observation after 25+ visits...You'll have a GREAT time!

Just wondering, but guest who has a ADR for breakfast, will they usually be one of the first ones to get to a M&G before all the rope drop people? Just wondering because my little girl is a big fan of Elsa and we manage to get a ADR for BOG.

He can see Buzz in Tomorrowland at MK nearly all day long, lines aren't bad and you don't have to race

Summer crowds mean long lines the later you get started. If you mean to meet Buzz, that line is not too bad. If you mean TSMM, you need FPs or go straight away. Do TSMM and then meet Buzz right after.

No, you are limited to where you can go until rope drop as well, however, for example if you are eating breakfast CRT you will probably get a pretty good spot in line for Anna & Elsa simply because you will be closer at rope drop than those people coming from the main entrance.

...which reminds me (I wish I had a picture of it for evidence). It seems as though everyone heads to Seven Dwarves coaster. After rope drop my group headed toward the new coaster. After seeing the line and the chaos in the area, we detoured to Frontierland. There was no one back there. I have seen it 'dead' in Frontierland, but this time it was eerie, but really cool for us.

Even after a good 30-45 minutes after opening, the area was practically dead. We ended up riding Big Thunder Mountain 5 times in a row (not having to get off) before we decided to move along to another ride. :)

...just a friendly planning thought for some of you if you plan on doing something popular/new versus other attractions...it may help you get through some attractions prior to times picking up.
