Paris Sq-Wishes

Have you seen "Wishes" in Paris yet?
what did you think?

I have to say I was somewhat surprised.
I was expecting a port of the Florida version, obviously with some changes.

What I got, was a lazer light projection show and a couple of fireworks.
I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the show, but I am saying I would never have called it "Wishes"

So they took the music, a direct port, plus some language barrier busters.
and they used the "shooting star" fireworks, which out of the 3 times we saw it, not one made it past the top tower and over the castle.
but it was so....techno, the bright green laser, the "fake" projection fireworks and the overuse of picture projection, the pictures that I can only describe as "child's room banner walpaper"...so large, so cartoonish.

I found WDW Wishes Classy
I found DLRP Wishes Tacky.

A fun show, but overshadowed by the memory of it's American counterpart.

We renamed it Sqwishes, Phenominal Cosmic Firework Show.....Itty Bitty Budget.

Isn't that because DLP can't really haev big fireworks shows becasue of all the cows around the place.

I've never seen any cows whilst in the park :lookaroun

I know they have many restraints, and I know budget was a big deal, as I said, I enjoyed the show, but to someone who has seen the MK version, it's very....different.

What exactly are those restraints??

Yes, I've seen video of the show over at DLRP and my feeling watching the show was that they were trying to design something to work in the constraints they're under. They definitely depended on the projections on the castle to tell the story with the fireworks as backgroud. In Orlando, it's the other way around. I think it's a pretty show. It's not Orlando "Wishes" but I think for what it is, it isn't half bad.

We saw it 4 times last week (video editing as I speak) and....hmmm. If you expect Florida`s, you`ll be dissapointed. As Ive` said elsewhere, if you expect a great end to a great day, you`ll like it.

Calling it Wishes is rather like the Fantasy in the Skies; every MK had one, but all were different. I think now there are individual shows (Believe, Wishes, Remember etc) maybe the name is misleading. Still a good show, and they are ironing out the kinks each night.

I read in some article that DLP can't ahev big booming fireworks everynight because the farmers around the area were complaining that it freaked out their cows a lot.

Yep - as I understand it, Marne La Valle (DLP`s `neighborhood`) is mainly rural with many farms and hamlets very close (the land was originally agricultural) and so big booms are a no no apart from special events like Xmas, NYE, Bonfire Night, Bastille Day - the later the government pay for!

All DLP`s regular shows launch solely off the Fantasyland roofs - what you loose in height is certainly made up for by being so close to the pyro as it launches; it`s not uncommon to feel fallout at the front of the hub. The noises are really well contained too - more woosh and crackle if you get my drift - Wishes has some fireworks that are virtually silent both at launch and detonation. Clever.
