I just bought one for my trip that is coming up in 12 days. I like it already. It has games you can play at home. I bought it for two reasons. One, it is a collectible that, once they decide to stop selling them, they will eventually become valuable. Second, and most important, i bought it for my six month old son. Can start them on mickey too early, you know. It is expensive, and i haven't used it in the parks yet. But, i would say it is worth it.

has anyone one ever rent one or brought one. is it worth the money to buy one or just rent one.

We bought one last November and plan to take it with us when we go next year. I think they are worth the purchase price.

How were you able to buy one before your trip ? We're going down in December and I would love to have one in advance for my 4 year old. Can you mail order them ?

Not sure if you can mail order them, but I know they sell them at the new World of Disney Store here in NYC. So they can be bought in advance via that outlet.

And I agree. I love my Pal Mickey. Worth it completely.

I bought mine online before a trip from the shopping section of this site over a year ago. I don't know if it's still available here or not.
I've used it on two trips and it is a nice novelty. My six year old probably enjoys it the most, but it can be entertaining for adults as well.
I would recommend going ahead and buying one unless it's really a big financial burden. I think the hassle of renting and returning one would outweigh the savings, and they do make a nice plush between trips.

I like mine. He's too cute. He even has his own lanyard with Mickey pins on it now. Heh. You can see him on his first day at the park here.

If you rent one, you pay a "deposit" of the full amount anyway and you're allowed to simply not return it. I knew I wanted him for more then one day (I've taken him to all four parks) so I just bought mine outright.

He's fun. Corny jokes, but fun. I really like having him and I think kids would go nuts for him. If you have specific questions, let me know. I've taken him to the parks at least a dozen times now.

We just returned from our most recent trip a few hours ago and we adopted a Mickey on this trip. My girls (6 and 8) LOVE him. We rented him to see if the girls would like him or get tired of carrying him. We carried him on a bottle lanyard and they fought over who got to hold him! I never got to carry him. His jokes are really so bad that they are funny! If you rent you are charged $60 up front deposit. If you return him you are charged $8 per day that you had him (they refund the balance of your deposit). If you want to keep him you can keep the one you rented or turn him in and get a brand new one...if you can part with the one you bonded with! I wouldn't bother with one for really young (toddlers, preschool) I had to explain a few of his jokes to my girls though they got most of them. And his games may be too hard for the really young ones. And they made the adults in the group groan and laugh quite often! I am glad that we decided to get him this trip.

I wish they'd make a Tigger of Goofy version... I'd definitely buy one then!
It's been rumored forever that they were going to release a Pal Pooh next since he's the next big chracter draw to see how it went. It was supposed to happen this year, but most likely, it won't be until 2.0 (which is rumored to be released possibly next year.)

I know they were totally floored with discovering that more people were buying them then renting them and more adults were buying them then kids. If you're a grown up with a Pal Mickey, there's even a [unofficial] Club you can join. :)

I'd be willing to bet that noone would even bat an eye. Disney World is one of the few places that adults can truly get caught up the magic and simply enjoy it, without worrying about it at all. In a sense, become kids again. In my experience down there, the Adults are often more excited about going to the World than any of their kids are. (A good spot to see this is to hang out at the TTC right around park opening time, and watch people as they see the castle for the first time in the distance; its really something)

So, if you want to try it out, go for it. Just enjoy yourself. Heck, I'm 20 and Pal Mickey has been to the parks with me a couple times, hanging out on my belt.

Duhh,l forgot what kinda place disney truly is,where adults become kids and no matter what you do,no one makes fun of you,Thanks friends. Do the pal mickeys they rent/sell in the parks come with pins/lynard? Is it a park only item? Or the ones sold off disney propery have pins/lynard included with pal mickey?
