I didn't even KNOW there was a rumor on the web. I wasn't perpetuating anything, just saying hey, I didn't know it didn't auto update, thanks for the info, definitely not bringing the old one.

Are they even going to update Pal Mickey? With the new DS system coming out, I had assumed that Pal Mickey would be discontinued.

No one knows. They're pretty bad about giving information on Pal Mickey prior to it just arriving on the shelf. The Sorcerer Mickey version came out waaaaay back in September 2006, but they're still actively selling them and the accessories (in fact, they brought the Santa outfit back this holiday season after it sold out completely last holiday season) so...who knows their commitment to the project. I'm surprised we haven't had a newer version as it's been over a year since the last release, but does that signify anything? Who knows?
