Has anyone purchased it from EBAY? I heard that its approxmately $65 for the PAL Mickey inside of the Parks...

If I purchase it on Ebay - it'd come out to $50 or so... seems like lots of people bid on them..

Is it worth it to even purchase?

Our girls received a Pal Mickey at Christmas time. Well, a friend gave them the money to buy it and we did. We had a problem with our Pal Mickey and he had to be exchanged for a different model. The second one has worked fine. But knowing now that we and others have had issues with him I'd just spend the extra $15 and get a brand new one.

When I went down to Disney last summer I almost bought a Pal Mickey but it was way too expensive. I don't know many people that have them because I never saw anybody with one when I went last year.

I think Pal Mickey is a bit overrated. Especially for someone like me who really enjoys traveling light at the parks. He's a bit heavy, and he never really says a whole lot of great stuff. If you are going to qpring for one, definately go for the new one and don't mess around on ebay with it. They have a little bit of a malfunctioning history on the older models, and I wouldn't take a hand-me-down one.

I agree that he is heavy and if you are traveling light it gets in the way.
However, he is cute and there are multiple outfits available. I purchased my outfits at Once Upon A Toy Store at DTD. I think he's cute!!

I don't know if you can still do this, but when they first came out you could rent them....My friends and I did that and he was fun, I guess. I def. would not spend $60.oo on a new one....

My two daughters (9 and 5) both have Pal Mickey and love him. While you're walking through the park, he'll laugh when he's got something to tell you about where you are. Sometimes he'll even tell you when a parade is about to start or when a line at a nearby ride is short. I thought it gave my two littles ones another way to enjoy Disney while walking around...or even waiting in line for something. Then when you bring him home, he tells jokes and plays games. We've had them for about three years now...and absolutely love them.

We're headed down next Wednesday for a week....and Pal Mickey is coming with us!

The rental program stopped in 2004. Everyone opted to keep him, so they discontinued the rental because it just wasn't worth it.

The current edition is Sorcerer Pal Mickey dressed in his red robes and blue Sorcerer hat from Fantasia. He's the third version and retails for $65. I have the original (1.0) and HCOE (2.0) and I think they're a ton of fun. Contrary to the post a few up which said not many people have them, he is quite popular and a real runaway success. Disney underestimated that just as many adults would buy him for themselves as they would for their kid.

You might want to check out PalMickey.net which is a grown-up's Pal Mickey club. :animwink: Some people don't like him, and that's fine, it's really a personal preference thing, but I think he's pretty darn neat.

Oh and as for buying him used on ebay? I'd be careful about that if I were you. People often are misleading on their auctions - selling say, a 1.0 (which is three years old and three years out of current information at this point) dressed in one of the new outfits so that you don't realize he's the older edition. Or he might have been dropped/damaged/exposed to water and his sensor won't pick up transmissions. Since you won't know until you get him into the park, that "deal" at $50 might turn into $50 down the tubes. It's generally better to be safe than sorry. (Oh and for anyone who's a Passholder, if you purchase him at the World of Disney store in DtD, you can get 10% off your purchase there like any other product.)

Hope that helps!
