I just read that they raised the price of a PAL Mickey to a whopping $57.33. That's $60.00 after Taxes.

They also are wanting a $60.00 deposit for renting one.
I think the renting price has increased as well.:(

I was giving serious condideration to buying one of these things on my next trip in October...now I'm not so sure.

That's getting a too little pricey for my tastes.:(

Hmm..I see this best thing at the parks (aside from pin trading) falling faster that a car in ToT as far as sales/rentals go. Although, it still is a good toy, if I didnt have the orignal test version (Yeah from when he was still being developed) I would still buy one, reguardless of the price.

I Personally don't see the use for PAL Mickey...but hey if you're willing to pay the $$$ go right ahead and enjoy, to each his own...just remember that where there is more profit to be made Disney will make sure to squeeze all the money out of a person. After all IT'S the happiest place on Earth--thats also a business.

God Bless Capitalism. :hammer:

He is probably of more "use" to Disney to gather information about how guests travel through the parks as well as what parks on what day etc. How much itme you spend where and so on.

For the guest, he is just a little unusual somewhat interactive fun.

I only Bought it because I paid $20 for it ($30 in Disney Visa Dollars) if I had to pay the full $50 for it I would never have

I think he is a pretty interesting invention. I really like how he would tell me that a ride had a short wait time when I was on the other side of the park.

Briefly...

PAL Mickey is a stuffed animal type invention that is your interactive tour guide in the parks. He has computer software inside of him that lets him interact with things going on in the parks. He will give you attraction info., show time info., and tell you when a ride has a short wait.

For more information do a search on PAL Mickey. You will find out everything you need to know.

Sounds like a joke but I will search.

No joke. It's real. Hell, I was even *sorta* in a video they did on one! I was at guest services about a lost item and a lady came, rented one, and a camera man w/mike came up and had the Guest Services CM explain it to the lady. I just looked on. I wonder if it'll be on TV....

I purchased mine shortly after they came out. I find he is nice to have and fun for kids. Bascially for those who dont own one or have used one PAL Mickey is like having a three year old that knows way to much Disney info, trivia, and jokes. I find the purchase was well worth the money.

The My Pal Mickey wouldn't be much fun for most adults but for kids between the ages of 5 - 12 I would recommend it. We bought one on our last trip and found it pretty amusing. Yeah, the jokes were corny but it did give you updates about parades and helped give you your bearings in the park. A first timer would probably find it helpful too.

I look at it this way: a stuffed animal souvenir would have cost me about $30. For an additional $20, I got one that my kid liked holding on to for the entire trip.

Whadda talkin about? Hell Im nineteen and I love to take him around the parks (when I do).

Best thing about it is that his chip is updated until 2006...in other words, even Mickey as a toy knows whats up for the new attractions. And theres not point in trying to crack into it either, they've tried it, and it aint gonna happen....

Torture? Or not? THink about, your own tour guide has that information locked inside him and he's not gonna tell ya one thing...:goodnevil

I am glad I got one last trip (we used Disney Visa rewards for the purchace and also got 8$ off for being DVC members).

Since we are home I put it away so it will be "new" again on our next trip in Jan (did this with her spinning pooh toy and she loved it all over again at WDW).

One hint to PAL Mickey owners. I lost the clip on the last trip and mentioned it to a CM at OKW were we were staying. He gave me a new one and said they had a whole bowl of them behind the counter, it happens alot. (I found the old one so now we have 2.)

I love my Pal Mickey. I haven't used him in the Parks (Mom got him when she went without me) yet but I do play with him at home. I may be a 27 year old girl but I love hearing Mickey's laugh and his corny jokes. My favorite joke is the Sleeping Beauty one.

Is $10 really that big of a deal?

Those of you who think PAL Mickey is a useless, stupid toy seemed to have missed that he is just the opposite for folks who aren't Disney nutcases such us we are. If it were your first, or even second trip to WDW, you wouldn't be so quick to claim that Disney created a piece of crap to make a buck.

I'm 26, and have been going to WDW and learning about the parks since 1985. I bought him on my last trip, and I couldn't be more happy that I did. He's innovative, cute, and funny (in a dry sorta way).

Now the toy is even referred to as a "he" What is this world coming to?! :lookaroun

I don´t think I would spend $50 on a plush toy that doesn´t shut up! :animwink:
