PAL Mickey for adults

I am looking into getting a Pal Mickey. I saw it back when I went to WDW in June 2008 but did not get one at the time, and now regret it!

I looked up some info on it and only heard what it can do. To those who own, is this a kids-only item or is it an item adults can also use at Walt Disney World?

Also, to those who have bought used on eBay, any good/bad experiences?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure they've been discontinued... you'd have to get him on eBay now.
While it's a cute idea, I wouldn't want to carry him around all day.

At this point I feel like getting one isn't worth it. The recordings cannot be updated and no new versions will be coming out. He will work, but he might be giving you some outdated information.

We bought one the first year they came out, because on the box it said he would tell us special insider info such as which horse is Cinderella's horse on the carousel. He never did tell us. Had to find it on here :)

we have had him with us on many trips and found him lots of fun at times. we definitely did not take him with us every time we left the hotel room. we lent him to friends and family and received mixed reviews. Usually they same thing. They did not feel like carrying him around. But I enjoy him. I would suggest a later version as mine still talks up Alien Encounter.

I had 2 versions of pal mickey and I got tired of taking him like a year after I bought him lol. Plus he's a bit outdated and can get a tad annoying.

Wow, it seems like everyone has the same trouble with having to carry him around. It's a shame they discontinued him. I'm amazed how much they are going for on eBay.

Looks like Disney should've perhaps made him into an interactive backpack-type plush, one where you could also put wallet and other carryables in him.

I didn't mind carrying him. I don't see the big deal. He's not very large or heavy.

I have the version 1 and version 2 editions. I haven't taken either to the park for a couple years now though because I've done it many times in the past.

I thought he was a TON of fun, really cute and I have to be honest, I've always seen more adults with them than just kids.

If you can find a ver2 (HCOE) or ver3 (Sorcerer's Apprentice) version inexpensive, it's not a bad thing, but it is going to continue to be more and more outdated. (The ver1 already is in many things including still talking about AE instead of SGE - which can be entertaining in it's own way!)

They're not cheap on ebay but then they weren't cheap in the parks either. The original was around $50 and the second was $65. I don't recall the 3rd one's price off hand but it was in that range as well.

I love our Pal Mickeys. I keep them in the MH and use the to get a Mickey Fix when I am missing the parks.
Kind of like after our failed attempt at a vacation this year:cry:
Thank goodness for Pal Mickey and my giant talking Tigger I might have lost my mind:hammer:

I heard that they barely even work in the parks anymore and the spiels haven't been updated since being discontinued. I wouldn't bother...

Common misconception. Pal Mickey never had any kind of update ability. Everything Pal ever has said or will ever say is already programmed into the toy at time of manufacture.

So my Pal Mickey I'm getting either Wednesday or Thursday should be fine right will still say all 700 things?

Question too after he says all 700 things since he never repeats the same thing twice does he never say the fun facts again?

Did you wind up getting yours on eBay? The average winning price for them seems to be $70-$110!

Yup, he'll be fine. He'll say all the same things he's always said (though some can be out of date on the oldest version especially.)

If you walk past the same sensor like a dozen times, he may repeat himself later in the day, but typically, you can go by the same sensor multiple times and he usually says something different, or triggers a joke. We cross back-and-forth through the park all day and I've had him repeat a few times late in the evening after walking by say a Fantasyland sensor many, many times but mostly, he "remembers" what phrases he's said already.

If you turn him off or exit one park and go to another, he'll "forget" what he said though for the day so far and you might get repeats then.

Have fun! (And don't forget to pose him around in the park! Makes for fun pictures. :D)

Yes I won him off ebay for $100 but it was a v3 Pal Mickey with the pin trading outfit. I bought the rest of the outfits set off a WDWMAGIC member :sohappy: so it completes the set.

I made a thread about the prices I was seeing them go for a while back.

Last I checked you could get v1 for about $50-70, v2 for $70-$90, and v3 for about $90-$110.

My advice if you going to go through eBay use esnipe to do your bidding this gets you out of bidding wars. The way it works is it sits on the back end till about 10-20 secs left on the listing then Bam! Throws your bid in with only seconds left with there is little to no chance of the price going much higher.

I did it with my last action (Pal Mickey) and that's how I didn't get him going to around $115-$125 since the outfits go for around $10-$25 bucks just themselves.

Note: If I remember correctly I remember someone saying that v3 Pal Mickey's went for about $69 when WDW was selling them so you add in the outfit for $10 and you get $79+tax is around $84.60 (NY sales tax is 8%) so I only really overpaid by 15 bucks so it wasn't too bad.

Just got my Pal Mickey today and it works GREAT! Love it, question though because of the age his white gloves have some yellowish stain on it.

Would a Clorox pen bring it back since he can't go in the washer of course or is there another way? If not I can deal with it.

Thanks

Glad to hear it!

I wouldn't want to risk a straight bleach on the plush. I'd say either a little bit of a stain remover or a VERY diluted bleach/water mix and spot treat.

Congrats Mike! Hope you enjoy him. I just successfully won an eBay auction as well a couple of days ago for a version 3 who also comes with the pirate outfit.

Yay, we can both enjoy our Pal Mickeys! :sohappy:

Be careful with how you attach it to yourself. I had mine fall off the hook on small world and didnt notice until we saw him floating face down in front of the boat! everyone on the boat was trying to retrieve him for us and we finally got him in near the end. we were al laughing and crying at the same time cause it was kinda funny but sad that $50 just went down the tubes. I took a shot and took him soaking wet to one of the stores in frontierland and told them what happened and they gave me a new one! I got a playful scolding about not watching after him. I couldnt believe they replaced him, definately a happy moment for me.
