Padholes in the parks

Even famous directors do it! When meeting the POTUS!

While Mr. Lee does look pretty ridiculous, at least he is holding the device close to himself and not blocking the view of spectators behind him.

It's the inconsiderate people who hold the damn thing aloft as if they're Rafiki presenting Simba to the pridelands that I want to backhand across the face.

Padholes. Lol. Good word.

When someone directly in front of me holds one up, I scootch in front of them. I say, "Sorry," but I don't say it very apologetically.

It's rare that I hang around for fireworks, but when I do, I want to see them. I also realize that their rudeness isn't an excuse for my rudeness, but, well...there is no excuse. I'm just rude, too.

ha, never saw it in disney but when i lived in florida i was down in key west vacationing and at the southern most point which is a tourist picture area, and while i was enjoying my mango adult beverage i saw a lady in her 50s-60's and her grown daughter taking turns taking each other's picture next to the landmark with a big old ipad and i couldn't help but think....its 95+ degrees out and your lugging that thing around taking pictures. i laughed, i mean i get just the same quality pictures on my phone but i can carry that in my pocket. bringing ipads around for pictures just seems like a waste of effort and space. ( no offense to your dad)

i like the nickname you give these people though, thats a keeper, ill be sure to use it if the time comes up again

No offense taken :) My dad knows how I feel about them and every time he took a picture I took a picture of him taking a "padture". He then carried it around under his arm like a handbag. Was ridiculous. I suggested to him to buy a messenger bag and put it in. He struggled to hold my kids hands so I said he was going to be the profile picture for my fb page lol. Pretty sure he does it to wind me up too.
I love my dad with all my heart but I was secretly hoping the ipad would fly out of his hands on the potc drop lol. It's not just the size but the covers that come with them, and her husband is next to her taking pictures on the normal camera:

ha that picture is sad but true for most couples looking for photo ops.

one of my dads friends works in landscape, he went over once to take a picture of their yard to do some planning and when he said let me take a pic my dad was expecting him to use his phone or a camera, but he went to his truck and came back with his ipad and my dad was like " you can't be serious right now". ha

i feel your pain, i even have seen some girls on fb who post 'selfies' but in the background there was a mirror and you can see them holding up their ipads and i just think they look pretty foolish.

i just hope i can start taking pictures from my toothbrush soon.

Its weird to see this. But how many of you use your phone to do this. The one time I was at AK in 2003 I had a Camcorder by Canon and it was one of the 1st that had the fold out screen and the people in from to me were blocking my view of the tiger. Im 6'3" and I took my camera and shot over there heads. And I felt kinda weird. Like someone was watching me. The guy behind me was looking at my 3 inch screen on the camera. " He tells me I'm sorry but I can't see. I apologize. He said no that not the problem the only way I can see the tiger is thru your screen. He thank me for it. But those people with eye pads. Ever think that maybe just maube thats the only way the can see. You know bad eyesight and all we are not all 21 yo with good eyesight. And if your life is gonna be destroyed by that one moment. Then it's going to be a long life. Hey heres an idea get to a great spot sit there like the train depot and shot from the. Might take an hour or 2 of sitting there. But you get the idea

Not only is a tablet a lot bigger but if it's an ipad the picture/video quality is really low. Most people would be better off using the camera on their phone or a digital camera from 2000.

Quote of the day....
Don't Be a Padhole said:
Just because your tablet can take pictures doesn't mean it should. The phrase that carpenters and handymen live by is, "use the right tool for the right job." It's possible to hammer a nail with the butt of a gun, but just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Tablets can take pictures, but tablets can also slice cheese, stop doors from closing and fix wobbly tables. The day I start seeing people fix wobbly tables and slicing cheese with tablets is the day I'll relax my stance on tablet photos. But don't count on it.

I wonder how many people here actually HAVE done this and have shamefully hidden their iPad/tablet pics in a private folder somewhere on their comp...ROFL

I don't think people realize how obnoxious they're being when they do it. I don't think it's intentional...then they get back here and realize they're right at the top of the list for some of the most obnoxious people in the parks!

Some people do know. Probably a lot more than you'd think. They just don't care. Its all about them. I've told people before that they are blocking people's view. The answer I typically get is "Well then move somewhere else." You have no idea the amount of willpower it takes to not completely cave their face in when I get this response. On my last trip a woman was blocking our view of Lights, Motor, Action. When I told her that she was blocking our view she just ignored us, so I suggested she actually look at the crap -1MP photos she was taking. She did and stopped using the tablet. There are a ton of Soccer Moms at my child's school that use these things every chance they get. They are ridiculous. 20 of them jockeying for position at the front of a presentation to see who can outclass who. These same pathetic people used cameras with lenses long enough to see Saturn clearly in a small presentation room before tablets hit the market. The cameras they brought in easily cost in the $1000 to $4000 or more range. Now its tablets. Its nothing more than an "I have the latest and greatest iPad!" argument back and forth.

Actually she just stopped dead in front of me walking out of Main Street, it wasn't to do with me being late to view something as I'm always the one eating hotdogs on Main Street an hour before the parade. If their eyesight was that bad then they should get better glasses :)

Freaking rude a@@ people! It would have taken all I had not to push the iPad out of her hands and watch it shatter!

Thats crazy on the soccer moms! I've got my Canon Rebel, which comes everywhere, but it's got a normal/standard lens on it....LOL Although, anymore, I use my phone. lol

I agree with all the comments . It's a folks just don't care attitude. Just like the folks that rented a handicapped person for the day. Now we all have to suffer. And this is a add. I did video production for many years and I always had a video camcorder from back in the 80's till last year. Of all the video I shot till I bought my DSLR last year I may have watched maybe on time. I got the DSLR cause it does HD . But it also take pictures. I like having the ability to take video and pictures. But now the camera I have I love taking photos more. It's true one picture can say a thousand words more than video can. And thats coming from someone that did it professionally for 20 years.
