Did anyone else see anywhere on their PACKAGE reservation MAILED confirmation that "package rates can change (until paid in full) for guests arriving after 1/2013? I had a friend who said she saw this on her package reservation. It isn't on the email confirmation, but on the confirmation they mail to you. I just booked my package, so I don't know if it is there or not.

I'd check with your TA (if you have one) on that. I think (but don't know) that if you don't make changes, they can't raise your package price. But, again, check it out.

I booked my package a few months ago, and I did read somewhere (forgot where exactly) if the package is not paid in full by whatever time, the price of the package could increase. So, I took it upon myself to pay it in full. I wasn't sure of the details but I wasn't going to take any chances. You should just call WDW and ask them, they are very helpful and helped me with everything over the phone with ease.

If your package isn't paid in full and say the room rates or ticket prices go up they can claim that you haven't paid for that portion yet and then raise the price.

Wow!! That's a little crazy!! I always considered it an "offer-acceptance-contract" where there was no changing the price - for the worse anyway! In other words, Disney offers the package at X price and then you accept at X price so the contract is for X amount. I guess the way they get around that is to allow you to back out of your package for free if they change the price? Nothing you can really do I guess if you can back out?? But, it would still be a bummer! I wonder how often they do this?

Sorry just wanted to point out that I think it was funny that you point out that people feel like it is their right to lower package rates even after booking than can't believe Disney would raise the price if there was a standard cross the board price increase later post booking. If you want a "offer-acceptance-contract" it goes both ways the contract can't be changed for lower or higher after booking.

I think this is because I know Magic Your Way Tickets must be used with in a certain time after buying them so if they sell you the lower rate ones the tickets wouldn't work before you get to go on your trip. I'm sure it isn't raised by much just 10s of dollars not hundreds more.

Disney usually posts prices for room-only bookings and packages for the following calendar year in August. Once they're posted, the room/package pricing doesn't change. If you book prior to the pricing release, you are making a conditional booking that will be adjusted to reflect the pricing when it's released. For example: If you book a room-only reservation in June 2013, you pay a one-night deposit at the 2012 room rate and when the 2013 rates are released, your overall price would increase to the 2013 rates [I'm not sure if they ask you to top up the original deposit or not].

If MYW ticket pricing increases once you've booked, you're locked in at the booking price. Contrary to a previous post, MYW tickets never expire until 14 days after the first time you use them [unless you buy the no expire option, then they never expire until all admissions on them have been used]. If you purchased a MYW ticket [without no expire] in 2005 and had never used it, you could get into a park with it tomorrow without problem, but then 14 days after tomorrow any unused admissions would expire.

So, to answer the OP: The only way your price would increase after booking is if you book for the following calendar year before they release the pricing for that year. Otherwise, your price is locked in once you've paid the deposit.

I booked very early at the contemporary and there was a package made available that was lower after I booked. When I called to get the lower price I was told it was not available to me because the contemporary was all booked for my stay. Meaning there were no open rooms there available for the length of my stay. I was kind of surprised since I booked though Disney and was told I could always obtain the lower price as long as it was not within 45 days of my arrival. Apparently this was not the case. And it would have saved me hundreds not tens of dollars. But oh we'll, I bought the trip for a price and that's it. Not really upset, more disappointed, but onward and upward. Only 17 days! Can't wait!,

As you found out this is not always the case. The room at the lower rate has to be available just like if it was a new booking for you to be able to apply it to an existing reservation.

I am fine with that, but I wish the booking agent at Disney would have mentioned that when I booked. I would have called immediately when the package was available. I did not realize that other rooms had to be available to get the promo rate for my room, so I called about 2 weeks after it was posted. I know there were rooms still available when it was announced, because friends were looking to book at the same time and place. If I knew I would have made it a priority to cal. But like I said, not really upset, just disappointed. The policy makes sense to me, I just wish I had realized it earlier. Haven't been to contemporary since 1976, I am excited and looking forward to it.

Yeah, Disney's CMs at the DRC are not always that great at articulating that. You will often hear them say "apply the discount to a current reservation" and that is not really what happens behind the computer screens. Technically, it is a cancellation and a rebook, but it seems like only the upper echelon CMs know this.

Yup, that I have that disclaimer on my reservation (room only) as well.

Regarding the Package rate possible changes, here is what I was just told via supervisor:

There is now a disclaimer that WDW can indeed change the rate of your package for any reason up until the package is paid in full. Once the package is paid in full, they will not re-rate or change the package rates for any reason.

Kind of makes me want to pay my trip off a little faster!
