Package Deal-Base ticket?

My family and I will be going down on the Free Dining Package with a 1-Day Base ticket this Fall. My question is this: If I purchase multiday tickets separate from this 1-Day Base ticket which will be on our room key, can I choose to save that one day base ticket for another trip and just use the separate multiday passes?

My thoughts....
Expiration is 14 days after first use? and if I do not use those 1-day tickets I should be able to use it on a future trip? What about it being on our room keys, when the vacation is our will it still be usable?

I know, too many questions, but I am trying to work some financial magic for my family.

I'm sure someone will know way more than I do, but I heard from a friend who went that you can't use your dining card in the parks if the card first has not been activated (that is, it hasn't been used to enter a park.) So if you went in with the multi-day passes, then tried to use the dining card, I don't believe it would work. (I could be wrong though :~)

Being a huge park hopper, I know how you feel, but friends and I went for two days in March (it was all the time we had), and staying at one park for a whole day was not bad at ALL. Sure, it's nice to hop to Epcot after a day at Animal kingdom for a nice dinner, but there's also the Boardwalk, the resort restaurants, and Downtown Disney to have fun at. We didn't mind at all ;)

Good luck with everything:)

Thanks for the reply! We had this same plan last OCT. and used our room key (with 1-day tix and Free Dining Plan) the night of check in to go to Chef Mickey's. The next day we went to MK and later we added another 1-Day base to our room key. So, the Room key still worked without first using the tix. So it will be activated but when the trip is over will the key be useless? What happens to people who have No X on their tix? :veryconfu

Why would you do it this way? It is cheaper to purchase a mult-day ticket up front.

You can use the meal plan and not use the park ticket on the room key, the two items are independent of one another. Your hotel stay is also independent of the park ticket on your room key. You just need to save the room key and not use it in the park turnstile, because once you put it in the park turnstile for entry you have used your one day ticket (or if a multi-day ticket, you then must use that ticket within 14 days of first use unless you have purchased the no expiration option).

This is the confirmation I needed! Thanks Shoppingnut!

Very sensible question! It is all about the money. I put down a deposit on the bare minimum package to get the Free Dining (which will save me min. $600 but much more after we eat - probably $800) so I had to get a 1-Day Base. I have been saving up to pay the balance of that package. Next step after that is due is to save up to purchase MNSSHP ticket/park tickets. I do not have the extra money to buy the multi-day tickets such as 4 or 5 days. So in order to get back down to the World, I look for the best deals and cut all the fat just so we can get down there! We do not have to go to the parks every day, one or two days is great. We just hang around the pools/resort and go to the other ammenities of the World. Just being down there makes for a great vacation for my family!:sohappy: Besides, with the Free Dining Package it allows us to go places that we could not afford before! Basicly, that's my story!

I was looking at it from different angles and thought I found a good deal on some tickets, but as it works out on paper I guess what I was thinking will not work out any better than you said. SO back to square one.

ShoppingNut is absolutely correct. I did this last year. I dont need the park tickets but had to get them because of other people in my group needed the tickets. I never touched my ticket on my room key, but used it for entry to my room and to use the meal plan, and was able to cash in whatever value it had towards the renewal of my AP a few months later!! Note to do this it must be done in person at a Guest Relations location, and cannot be done by mail or phone. Belle
