P.I., new "celebration", and more

I can hear the new promo now:

"Last year we gave away millions of dreams, this year, be part of the dream at Disney Parks where you could be chosen as a CM for a day!"

Disney gets happy guests to be non-paid CM's.

"Well we see here you want to work at either Tower of Terror or Haunted Mansion for the day, but all we have is the turkey leg stand." :p

In reality though, I agree it must be something dumb like "oh you wanna be a pirate, heres a free pirate hat, live your dreams".

Oh,God I hope not...That sounds horrible. But the bottom line is,why d we need a celebration anyway?Does marketing REALLY think that attendance will drop because "nothing is going on in WDW"Silly.

I agree that I think the celebrations are unneccesary and only take away from the real celebrations like 50 years, etc. Put up rides and entertainment during the years that nothing is going on to celebrate, then use the celebration as an entertainment "blowout" when its neccessary.

I compare this similar to watching wrestling as a kid. You only had a couple pay per views a year, and you knew that big things would take place at those events. But eventually they added a pay per view to every month which diminished the importance of things like Wrestlemania.

"Role-Play".

For fun in the parks by day, and at the resorts by night.

Not sure about the whole "land" being named after this... I'm lost on that one. A city I guess... but certainly not a theme park land. Also, I think a few of the above posters missed the part where I said this as low-key as possible, and in fact is not a celebration, just a marketing push, and that people that were complaining about a celebration every year should be happy...

Anywho, in other news, P.I. announcement will be sooner than expected. The only thing I'm going to say is that Disney's Fiscal Year begins after the end of September, and changes are typically made with fiscal year and/or quarter end in mind.

Sounds like you are not talking about major changes at PI if it could be done that soon. Any other clues?

Pirates have finally worn themselves out. Time to move to the next land round the clock. Disney World goes COWTOWN!!!

They'll do a daily cattle drive that follows the same route as the marathon. It will start at 9am every day and end about 5pm. After years of searching, there is finally a new Minnie Moo that will lead the pack daily. The show is Dark on Wednesdays and Thursdays in conjunction to the rumour that DHS and AK will each be closed one day a week this fall.

Instead of following the roundup by Wagon Train, Disney will add a little local touch. Western dressed characters will ride along in an authentic, replica, manatee friendly, land traveling hydrofoils.

Basically, we're too close to WDW's 40th to have a huge celebration right now. Marketing doesn't want to dilute the impact the 40th anniversary will have.

I'm looking forward to a quiet year without whipped cream clouds and low-quality graphic design typography hanging everywhere.

That'll be nice. Anyone know how soon after 12/31 they'll have gotten rid of all the cloud/dream stuff? Do they change these celebration/not-so-celebration-celebrations pretty swiftly like they do the Christmas decorations?

LOL I'm kind of hoping for a pretty swift change rather than something that'll take a few weeks to get moving. We've been twice during 2YOAMD and we're planning to be there the first week of January. :p
