I too miss Pasta Piazza in Future World. I loved the Mickey head pizza and the salad. I guess if you want Italian now you have to hoof it on over to Italy in World Showcase. It's not exactly food, but I love the frozen margarita machines in Mexico at the Cantina. Nothing beats a frozen Margarita after you started at Canada and worked your away around to Mexico, even during the Food Wine Festival. :D

I'm new to this site but, I notice that when i'm in wdw I seem to return most of the same resturants. I think its because I like the feeling of resturants and the food. But after the first time visiting wdw i found it was costly. I started looking into diffirent way to get to the restruants I like and came across the dream maker silver plan. I use the wishes for our lunch and dinners. And because its all perpaid there is no out of pocket money for meals. I can enjoy buying more gifts for everyone.

I mainly eat at the counter service restaurants. MK and The Studios are the worst for this – unless you like bland burgers and cardboard pizza. So in MK I usually eat at Columbia Harbour House. In the past I used to go to the Pirate place, but it went seasonal and I go off-season. On my next visit it’s shut for rehab!

I don’t think I ate anything at the studios last time bar fruit and a pretzel from the carts in Sunset Blvd. It’s all burgers, chicken strips and other bread products. The Commissary looked promising, but the food there, whilst different is the blandest in the parks.

Epcot – Much better! Lots to choose from, and even though the Italian place went, I can find some of their dishes in The Land.

Animal Kingdom – The chicken stir fry place (Charkranadi Chicken) has had all the flavour drained out of it, but Tusker House and Flame Grill Barbeque more than make up for that :slurp:

The thing I find kind of annoying about the Magic Kingdom is that there are no places to get a quick, relatively inexpensive breakfast. I'm not into the character dining thing, and the only two places you can get breakfast are the Crystal Palace and Cinderella's Royal Table -- both being character breakfasts. I miss breakfast at Tony's Town Square! About the only alternative is one of those wonderful cinnamon rolls from the Main Street Bakery. While I do love those, there are times that I would like a full breakfast. All the other parks have places that serve breakfast sans characters, why not MK?

My only complaint is that they dont sell pretzels at the beer carts, that would make sense wouldnt it?

But overall, I think the food quality was just fine. I was actually impressed with the BBQ chicken at AK, and I thought it was going to be horrid.

Last night my DH & I were discussing this. We were looking at our Disney planning books. LOL He with his favorite Disney for Dummies and me with all of the others. I was checking out the PrimeTime and was absolutely tickled by the theming. We've got a restaurant here called the Magic Time Machine. The people dress up like characters... last summer when we went we were waited on by Willy Wonka & Wyatt Earp was helping him out. They play with you there too. It's really neat. I love places like that..... ANYHOW... *back on track Sen*.. I noticed that all of these books (and some webpages) are very tough critics pertaining to food. I thought that was... eh not so wonderful. I mean... everyone's got different tastes of whats good ya know? My husband agreed and said "It's a theme park... the food isn't going to be 5 star all across the board". LOL Maybe we're just easier to please because our thought process is: as long as its hot, cooked the way its supposed to (you know.. chicken fingers not still cl__________g... burger not still mooing... fish not still flopping around), and tastes like it's supposed to... thats ok. If I order a burger and it tastes like.... dirt then we've got a problem Houston! It also seemed like, in the book I was reading (I cant remember which), they gave every restaurant that wasn't an obvious given, like California Grill & V&A's etc, never got over 3 stars. What do yall think about the reviews of the WDW restaurants in the books?

Also... I tend to stay away from any pizza that isn't from a pizza place. No good can ever come from any other sort of pizza. LOL Would you like some sauce on your slice of cardboard?

That won't be a problem with Disney burgers. You order one of them and it tastes of....well..... all really!

When we made our first trip to WDW, we were warned that it was a "money pit" including the eateries. We were pleasantly surprised, not that the food is cheap in price  , but compared to other tourist destinations, rather nice. We just discovered Columbia Harbor House on our last visit to MK and I agree that there chicken fingers and tuna sandwiches are very good! :slurp: The seating upstairs is cool and lovely!

I love the food and it is constantly changing. One tip most people don't know is EVERYTHING on the menu is available ala carte. This can save money, like I ordered a sandwich(I think a reuben) at the electric umbrella,it came with cole slaw, I asked them to remove the coleslaw and it saved a $1. Also kids meals are sometimes served in "collectors pails" or lunchboxes, if you tell them to skip the collector thing it will usually be a credit of $1-2.50. A quick fast place I love is the Japanese fast food place in the second story, thay have great combo plates, and kirin light, with an incredible view of the water fall trickling into the koi pond...ahhh wish I was there now.

Cool! Thanks for that update. Hopefully they'll continue doing it. Now maybe I won't have to stop at Burger King before coming to the park! :king:

Out of everything WDW food related, that is one of my only complaints and gripes. I just dont think it's right and I do not like to see it. It jsut seems "lesser than Disney quality." Like below par.

My excuse doesn't make sense I don't think, I just do not like it.
And WDW burgers and fries are so much better!!

Has anyone done the Disney Dining Experience thing? I was thinking about it and wondered if the discounts were worth it. I don't know how often you'd have to use it to make it worth the 70 bucks it costs. Being I live a little over an hour away, I'm not sure that I would use it enough to make it worthwhile.

Best Value at WDW: Meal ticket at AK. You get that, have the ribs at Flame Tree (which are $10 in and of themselves), then still get snacks for the rest of the day. One of my favorites!

Epcot is, IMHO, the best for food tho. The only think I eat at MK is turkey legs and at MGM...um...icees :)

I have to agree. The food really isn't bad at all.

There is such a variety of things to enjoy. I personally love the fruit stands that are spread out through out the parks. It is nice to have something other than sweets and junk all the time.

Don't get me wrong.. the sweets (chocolate covered pretzels and ice cream :)) and other things are greawt, but it is nice to have another option.

:sohappy:
