Outside food/bev into parks?

Do or do not people bring in outside food/beverages and what's the official stance? I've read all kinds of confusing and ambiguous info. Have ya'all brought in coolers, backpack coolers, food, snacks, juice, soda, whatever? If so and successfully, do the Disney food/beverages prices warrant doing so for saving $'s?

I never have because I absolutely HATE carrying stuff in the parks, but a good friend of mine just got back a month ago and did take lots of stuff in. She had several people tell her before she left that they did not allow that and she would get in trouble. So I told her to call Disney herself and find out. They told her that it was no problem at all and Disney does allow it.

That's all I know...Hope this helps!

When I went to Epcot earlier this month, I brought a soft cooler to store in a locker that had a couple bottles of water and a package of cookies in it. Had no problems at all. Having the water with me saved money on buying drinks at the park. Plus drinking water is better since it gets so hot and you need to stay hydrated or you can get major sick.

Small, soft coolers that aren't on wheels are allowed in the parks. Says so right on WDW's official website.

I think the confusion comes because at one time it was not allowed. However, somewhere along the way the policy changed. I also think that bringing your own water is certainly worth it. The water at the fountains is fine by me, but many people dislike the taste.

BTW - enjoy your trip !

They definately, 100% for sure allow you to bring in outside food. I can't count how many times I've seen people feeding kids, drinking outside drinks, etc. They might limit glass bottles for safety reasons, but yeah, you can most certainly bring your own food/snacks/drinks in the parks.

They allow it because sometimes people need it for medicine... So they changed their policy for it.

I know i havn't done that, but i did freeze 2 bottles of water for me, and one bottle was half way frozen and half with water... put it in backpack in a good spot away from camera.... and it works well too....

This topic has been raised a few times in recent months, so I have the answers to hand - at one time it was forbidden to bring food or drink into the parks. This was stated in the guide book/map. I have one from the late Eighties that states this.

Now in the guidemap there is no mention of it. I don't know at what point the policy changed (anyone out there have a date?), but it's no longer a no-no.

First of all, welcome fellow Nashvillian!!!

Secondly, as everyone has said you may bring outside food and drink in. We usually don't esp. since you have to go through the bag checks now. We prefer to just walk on through the no bag gate even though it costs us more money to buy food and drink in the parks.

On Word:

Camelback.

Get a three litter bladder for 20 bucks, stick it in a backpack, and you will fall in love with it.

I've now got a confused picture of you wandering around Magic Kingdom with three cat litter trays in your backpack?

Liter, the fluid measurement. I'm not sure of the spelling. It's a rubber back that can come with a ready made bag, or a seperate bladder. It has a tube coming out of the bottom that leads up to your mouth. We use them in the Army and they are phenominal.

I think they are available in the uk in cycle and campling shops. Litre is one one those words that has different spellings in the UK and US. Though neither spells it "litter" - I just found it an amusing was to miss-spell the word. Hope you take it in the fun spirit intended from another person who is not great at spelling. And I'm not just saying that to be polite having just read that you work in a trade that uses guns ;)

No offense taken. Just clarifying for everyone involved. I have discovered that I prefer the British spellings of a lot of words (specifically theatre vs. theater and now littre compared to liter). And I don't have to use my weapon all the time. I only have to qualify annually.

Just the one "t" (litre) :)
